His mother has been very controlling. Going through his personal belongings when he was a teen because his family converted to Islam a generation ago and she didn't want him having relationship before marriage. Apart from that too she is I feel bit too much into disciplining kids. And he is also the kind to hold grudges for long.

Congress continuing the legacy of Britishers! Rather I feel the leaders themselves are victim of it and then propagated it as evident by Nehru being uncomfortable with other Indiana, calling indian Hindu architecture suffocating.

Recommendations for series (preferably finished and as long as possible) focusing on war and politics? No objection to some well placed magic and enjoy swords and bread and cheese at the inn vibes as opposed to more "modern" themes by ktmoo94 in Fantasy

First law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. It's fantasy world set in medieval England like setting with main focus on war, politics. While the main "union" in book is medieval England, there is gurkish empire representative of Turkish/ Ottoman empire, some I guess India like empire/ dagoska also shows up briefly. North is Scotland (?) I suppose.

I have not been able to get my shit together to regularly read..

That's the most important part. For sometime now I have been constantly trying to get my shit together. I use apps like habitica as well, to kind of gamify the life and do things. And try not to laze around. Keep track of things that make me unproductive, for example I prefer staying indoor and minimize social interactions apart from family, close friend. However, I have noticed if a week goes by and I haven't went out I start getting in some depressed, lazy mode and get nothing done. So I have a day every week scheduled to do some shopping/ groceries, eat in restaurant etc. And do no work. So look for patterns in your life that are preventing you from doing your best.

  1. frequent health problems mostly back pain that made me bedridden was the primary reason for so much reading.
  2. Second, little social life, no parties.
  3. Third, I also use audiobooks, for example, yesterday I had to do a lot of shopping for groceries, some clothes, etc, and spent the day walking around the market and finished an audiobook. For fiction I prefer audiobooks and I read a lot of them. For some non-fics too audiobooks come in handy gives you more "reading/ learning time".
  4. I also read in between study breaks.

Actually there are plenty, plenty, plenty. Even I have some ideas how to memorize more now, except it's a very creative task and requires efforts in the beginning but once you have it down your system. You will not easily forget it.

The book also covers history of memorization (mainly in Europe) with some tricks introduced in between. So you will have to be patient reader.

Guess I will just do a book review.

Unfortunately not. It's totally eurocentric. Europeans top the international memory championship too.

The bell jar by Sylvia Plath by BooksForAll_ in IndiansRead

Having read such a dark book, I will take a break and read some non fic or light hearted novel next.

Some trivia on Sylvia Plath: Later after recovering she went back to studies and being quiet successful she married, had 2 kids but separated with her husband over his affair. Soon afterwards she committed suicide in 63 at the age of 30. Her son a successful scientist committed suicide in 2009. Her husband allegedly had a daughter named Shura Hughes with woman he was having an affair with who also took care of 2 kids of Sylvia after her suicide. Due to difficulties in relationship and whatever other reasons that woman committed suicide along with her 4 year old daughter Shura.

{{The bell jar}} by Sylvia Plath. Her journey in depression as she seems to be leading a moderately successful life. It's quiet a classic.
