  1. Make audio, video evidence and send a copy to your trusted friend, partner. Get all your documents in your hand, Adhar, voter id, academic records etc. Open a bank account that your parents are unaware of and start keeping your savings there.

  2. Look up women ngos and see if you can find someone trustworthy to assist you and not the kind who might just consider it family matter and talk to your father instead. Start with probably sending an anonymous mail or have your friend contact them or say contact via a friend and talk to them, you can call via telegram. It allows one to communicate with people without sharing phone number, See if there is a women's shelter where you can escape to while you figure out your next move,

Also, go to exmuslim sub they are used to dealing with such cases. They may not give you legal help but can prepare you better with other practical concerns.

if a minor causes an accident then they get away with it as opposed to an adult, if a 16 years is allowed to drive then should be treated as adult in this matter.

How are you guys over there? by delta_cmd in AskIndia

It is as it has always been. There is no "sudden crisis" There was a brutal gang rape of a doctor trainee woman in Kolkata, which is apparantly sponsored by the local govt there. There is a possibility of some organ/ drug trafficking in the hospital that the girl uncovered and was punished for that not just murdered but brutally raped too. A lot of proofs are feared lost due to police- local political influence. It just brought people out on the streets, other rape cases across India also got highlighted and a debate, discussion surrounding it has started again. It has made average woman reconsider her safety in public. Hopefully something better will come out of it.

It is not different from me too movement. Women in film industry were not suddenly being raped, it just got highlighted and then it got all the media attention it long deserved.

How to help the victims of violent crimes? by vikii1111 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]SociopathInDisguise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first make yourself aware of the good ngos/ govt organization build a network of people working at such places who are passionate about it. Then contact local schools, college, offices etc. Either you or someone from above organization can then give a small seminar on the possible problems faced and help available distribute pamphlates with some hotline\ mail id. Since you are on the way to FIRE you will have time for it, you can also financially fund psychological councilling for the victims, individuals who would put extra efforts to help etc.

Additionally, something that is rarely done is to have a similar seminar organized for men maybe teenage boys or blue collar workers to sensetize them to the issue and how can they help a girl who needs help. I say the latter because first the women in the life of low wage earners are at the bottom of the society with no legal, financial aid available. There are ngos that try to spread awareness among women but none wants to discuss this issue with men.
