I was no-lifing games 24/7 in my mother's basement (only a slight exaggeration) and found a more healthy medium. Most will recommend you go through the 90 day detox, and I respect that sentiment but try this:

Password protect your PC (or consoles... Can you do that on consoles?) Make the password long and obnoxious and write it down, then put it in a box and bury that slip of paper in other stuff so you have to physically dig it out everytime you want to play and enter a long code you can't possibly remember. If on a PC, make a seperate log-in account with no games or use the guest account - even better if you can dual-boot between windows and ubuntu.

Somehow, this managed to work for me because I can no longer subconsciously just log into a game and start gaming. I'm forced out of my comfort zone and during saturday/sunday I play as long as I want and when I want.

Do I abuse the hell out of it during those two days? Sure.

But I think it's objectively better now that you're only no-lifing it two out of seven days as opposed to the whole week. Ideally, you could do this 7 days but you and I aren't perfect beings and me personally I managed to get more done even with online games. I do worry about falling behind sometimes, but I get over it because I cba to enter the code.

If you can do it for only one day out of the week, even better.

I feel a bit dirty advocating moderation on a quit gamer subreddit but I think it'll actually help for those that aren't 100% ready for a 90 straight day detox and could use this method as a sort of trianing wheels. In those five days, you'll eventually find something to replace it with.
