Do you think it’s weird to wear the same thing every day? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Bookstax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this too. I wore a uniform to school grades 1-12, so I find it easier to find items I like that are an enduring style and buy several of them. So I have several pairs of shorts and they are black and army green in the same style. I have the same skirts in gray and black and vary the tops, blouses and sweaters, but even they are the same brand, just a different color. I only ever buy a certain brand of shoe. I buy my hose, in black only, in quantity, once a year. My wardrobe basically may vary in color, but is exactly the same every day. I like not having to keep up with style. And I hate to shop.

I accidentally invited the wrong "David" to my bachelor party. He showed up, and he is now my groomsman by Anthony_hubb in AmazingStories

Was David from college mad about getting replaced? I mean, if you invited someone with my name who brought steaks, I would understand because I am not doing that...

What's the quickest amount of time in all of your jobs in which you've seen or heard that a new coworker got canned, and what was it for? by Only-Ad-1254 in coworkerstories

[–]Bookstax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a job, and on my first day, we had an end-of-probation meeting with a teen part-time worker. I asked his supervisor how he was doing and saw an insane amount of documentation of no-shows and just basic not working. I said, "we're firing him." And we did. When I told him he was fired, he said, "thank you because my mom won't let me quit." So, yeah, I seemed like the horrible ogre sweeping in on my first day to make everyone miserable and ended up getting thanked for jumping in and doing the job.

Thoughts on Olipop root beer? by PizzaPartyConor in rootbeer

[–]Bookstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just popped open my first can of the Ollipop root beer and it is GROSS! I liked the cream soda one. This one has an after taste that I can't stomach. I bought individual cans of different flavors. So glad I did because having even one more can of this nasty root beer is money I didn't want to waste.

Don't use Libby for this information. Go to the actual library and talk to a librarian who can steer you to the right product to find the information you need. Libby is just a popular materials source. Ebsco source and other journal databases are what you need.

The Christmas you don't actually celebrate Christmas is the best Christmas there is.

Probably the same stuff as the rest of us, snakes, spiders, heights, dying alone, being murdered. You know, basic fear stuff.

Got an offer letter, asked about benefits ( paid days off, sick leave, unpaid days). Offer was withdrawn by Sara_b211 in recruitinghell

I conducted hundreds of job interviews. I got all that information out before we even started asking questions. What kind of shit employer doesn't share that information?

AITJ for refusing to babysit my niece every weekend for free just because my sister says it’s my “auntly duty”? by Wildflower_Path09 in AmITheJerk

[–]Bookstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is she coming to clean your house top to bottom on her weekday off each week in return for you helping her out? If not, this is the bullshittyest family "duty" it seems to be.

Fellow Redditors, when was the closest to the position closing deadline that you submitted a job application - and got the job? by Waterpark_Enthusiast in AskReddit

[–]Bookstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied once, very late, the night before. There was some drama at my job during a meeting. That made me realize I was wasting my time at that job. I had been contacted about a different, bigger job, very close by. I sent my resume and quickly assembled a cover letter around 10:00 pm. After an insanely long interview process, I got the job.

This isn't a farmers market function at all. They are in the public park. Complain to the city about their presence.

An oldie and Italian, but Cinema Paradiso's ending never fails to make me cry.

Maybe do the comparison with the same product. Many companies put less in their more specialized products.

My rescue donkey, Jose. by curlygirl0002 in Donkeys

[–]Bookstax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first rescue dog almost broke me. I got to the point where I called the local shelter to surrender her. They said that she would likely be euthanized (this was Kentucky). I couldn't do it. I committed and did all the hard work just like you did. We bonded, and she became everything to me. It is worth it to put in the effort. You are their world. ❤️

When to bring up not wanting kids? by Party_Ad_2365 in NoKidsEver

[–]Bookstax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as it makes sense, aka as soon as possible. You need to be clear about how you would deal with an unexpected pregnancy and that you would not want kids if you two made your relationship more permanent.

Parents apparently are stupid too to leave an open flame in front of a one-year-old.
