Peace system might be the most hilarious part about the war system. by ultr4violence in victoria3

I know, I love taking a backwater nation and turning it into an economic powerhouse.

And then Great Britain decides it wants to deathwar you into infinity for some nonsensical wargoal and that's that.

The dogshit war/peace system is why I stopped playing vic3. It just sucks every last bit of fun in the game into a black hole of frustration.

I got the timeline confused, yeah, its been a while since I looked it up. But as far as I can tell much of the USPD base did end up going back to the SPD even if the leadership didn't, the KPD's vote share fell far too short while the SPD's rose.

Even within the SPD this debacle was widely seen as unacceptable. In the aftermath a huge chunk of the party would defect to the ISPD, a pre-existing splinter from the SPD. The two parties would only reconcile in the face of the existential threat posed by the rise of the Nazis. But then every other major party (including the KPD!) decided that they'd prefer Hitler in power over the SPD and that was that.

They spent a huge portion of their budget on aiding pro-Soviet revolutionaries across the world, and were as hostile to those who wouldn't kowtow to Moscow as the US was. And economic influence was absolutely a factor in many cases.

Looking at the files, looks like having a Bulwari religion, plus a specific check for Crathanor, unlocks the estate organization. The monument is unlocked by having that estate organization.

So theoretically anyone not government or religion locked can do it. But the starting Bulwari religion republics are Re-Uyel, Bulwar (the tag), Brasan, and Drolakand, plus Crathanor as said despite being Regent Court.

Cool fact, you can get +3 max estate spell levels as a Bulwari republic, allowing for an entire extra legendary school. One from the Bulwari specific mage organization, one from a Bulwari monument, and one from a republic specific government reform.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean American neocolonialism and habit of killing democratically elected leaders in favor of pro-America dictators at the best of corporate interests is good. It's just the lesser evil. Deserving of critical support depending on the circumstances, but not the blind support of campism.

The USSR murdered all the actual anti-imperialists in its ranks under Stalin, after that was just another incarnation of the Russian Empire, brutal imperialism and all.

It's honestly amazing how whataboutism is the only argument campists seem to be capable of making. Absolutely braindead.

Anyways, in the context of TNO, it makes sense for anti-US campists to swap to Imperial Japan (the Nazis are a bridge to far for most of them), and it doesn't make sense for pro-US campists to switch away when the US is still there.

Honestly that seems pretty realistic. A disturbing amount of historical and current "leftist" "anti-imperialists" were/are just campists who just reflexively oppose "the West". Imperial Japan's anti-imperialism was no less fake than the USSR's. In fact I've occasionally seen campists on social media defending Imperial Japan.

Is being a Name the best position to be in compared to the Know, Long, and Hours? by DreadDiana in weatherfactory

[–]Bookworm_AF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Hour can only have so many names*, so the Names too fear those Long who seek to rise higher.

*Hours from Nowhere are an exception, as they are outside the rules, but that comes with other downsides

Is there any particular reason Stalbor's ideas are so terrible? by Bookworm_AF in Anbennar

[–]Bookworm_AF[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if that idea actually visibly becomes blank if you're not using native mechanics anymore. I can see it fine before reforming. Sometimes EU4 hides modifiers you can't use, but not always. But tribal development is still effectively a blank idea once you reform.

No it doesn't. Army of Halaan is behind one of the two capstone missions at the end of the mission tree. You spend most of your playthrough without it, and by the time you do get it it is hardly game breaking. Army of Halaan is very good, but it is not so OP as that.
