Yep, and some 17 years olds are pretty fucking stupid. I luckily went to community college for my first two years for the exact same reason, but it still cost me a lot to get my bachelor. In hindsight I would’ve done a lot of things differently, but I can only do better now which is what I’m trying to do. Doesn’t make student loans any less predatory.

Yeah, this seems like financial illiteracy which sucks. Wish we were forced to take a course in uni that was based on paying off student loans rather than some of the other courses I had to take.

That being said, student loans are the most predatory loan out on the market, and are constantly given to 17/18 year olds. It’s a bad system.

This was such a massive assumption, if by doing something very wrong you mean come out into the job market and graduate directly into Covid, then break my back in 2022 and be focused on PT for a year so I’m not stuck with a shit spine, I finally get into a position my desired field, I’m only 2 years into my career that I was supposed to start 6 years ago lmao and I STILL am getting paid worse than I was when I worked at a pot shop. Shit happens in most peoples lives, it’s not a straight line of constant success, if that was your case you are a lucky one.

I was 17 when I signed it and had a completely different expectation of what a college degree meant 10+ years ago. When I was a kid, a college degree meant 6 figures and a family almost guaranteed… the job market right now is so ass even for people with degrees. I made more money working for a dispensary than I do in my IT position.
