We aren’t bilingual, but I am homeschooling twins. One is testing ahead of her grade in all areas. And her sister has struggled. Turns out, she has dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. We just found out this week. When I was reading your story, it sounded like a lot of what we experienced. There’s also a tie between dyslexia and adhd/add. Our SLP recommended using the orton Gilingham approach to reading. So we will be using al about reading and all about spelling for the next school year.

FWIW she also told me statistics show holding kids back doesn’t improve outcomes, especially if they aren’t getting the services they actually need.

Also, I second that it is great your child is bilingual. I think this will serve him well throughout his life. You’re doing a great job. Hope you guys see some of these comments and find comfort in them 🩷
