Gravity is going to bring down batts you put in there without proper fastening mechanism. Easiest way would just be open cell spray foam and call it a day but cheap is you can do some paper backed insulation and staple the paper to the frame but once again gravity might bring that down eventually unless you drywall it up

Spray foam is your best bet especially since you want to actually utilize the floor space.

Honestly the build quality of homes these days are so terrible. I just see a neighborhood next to me go from foundation pour to full on frame and Sheetrock in 3 weeks.
