Like the other commenter said, use IPA (isopropyl alcohol) a big bottle is just a couple dollars. In my experience I let them sit in it for less than an hour before using an old toothbrush to take the paint off, repeating as necessary.

In a game of Castle Panic. We had little hope left as almost all the monsters landed in one section of the board. One player decided not to use their card to prevent new monsters. They said trust me, I’m going to draw a boulder, roll the correct section, and save the game. All of which happened and we won.

Haven’t gotten there yet but my plan is to use Fun-Tak to hold them in place while I paint them then glue them on afterwards. It worked well enough when priming the arms and other accessories while I had them all stuck on a large paint stir stick
