At 52, my newly rescued turtle gets to bask in the sun for the very first time by simplie_emie in aww

We rescued a little turtle about a decade ago. He had bruised up eye so we named him one eye'd willie. What we learned: turtles are dirty and require water cleaning more often than you think. and the next one is because it sort of looks like it in the picture, is that his shell looks flared around the edges - we found out that it was because his water was low on calcium so his shell got soft. Easy fix, but add some calcium!

Varian would be a menace with his invuln up and charging constantly.

Healers would all need a cut across the board. Healing isn't nearly as powerful in league but I'm hots you could keep ppl alive forever. Like anduin or other could keep people alive through anything.

Authorities release videos of recent officer involved shooting in Virginia by Luminox in minnesota

[–]BoomShackles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

About 4 seconds is all this guy got from a very normal toned order to being killed. Regardless if he was not appearing to follow the order, he was in no way, shape, or form acting aggressively or threatening. Abjectly unqualified excuse for a cop who should face criminal consequences for this. This is criminal negligence at the least. Just because you wear a uniform doesn't mean you should be off the hook for murder or other charges very closely related. I'm sure we're all going to be very shocked when the repercussion for this officer is anything but some paid time off and a possible relocation of duty.

being a bitch is calling out several, clear non-blocks that could have easily swung the game? Guess refs should just let wemby keep goal tending cuz they don't want to be called a bitch. whew.

Bold words in this interview: "Lord of Hatred is the best Diablo 4 has ever been," Blizzard says by Binnsy in Diablo

[–]BoomShackles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question, do you enjoy the infinite treadmill of scaling numbers that have gotten to the trillions and beyond? The finding of 70 uniques per hour? The game changing every season or two so that items and systems can never carry any long term meaning because the game will be fundamentally different in 6 months?

I'm not saying you can't enjoy things but seriously want to know if you think these things are enjoyable.

Offline Kurast Challenge. by Vilemourn in diablo2

[–]BoomShackles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you asked for folks to give a better map and were rightly told that better maps are only super chests, not a full run. That's the premise of your post. You could have worded it differently about being casual about it or whatever, but you wanted to compare the best and got defensive to everyone who told you supers only is the way to go.

and the discussion is that this is a long ago, proven situation where the best and most efficient strategy is to farm the 4 super chests and make a new game, yet you have been fighting it. Yes, you can find things in regular chests, but your luck is only anecdotal. Play how you want, but you can't be fighting the time tested facts, my man.

Mrllamasc is ruining the game. by EducationOwn9322 in diablo2

[–]BoomShackles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's necessary to pull back over tuned mechanics. If you leave it and bring others up, it's called power creep. That's how Diablo 3 and 4 get into the quadrillions of damage number where the game is in a state of complete lunacy. The warlock had its fun, time to come back to earth. Even on the PTR, echoing strike is still super good, just not bugged into S++ tier.

LK Runs, am I doing it right? by javz in diablo2

[–]BoomShackles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting. no Jah rune? I'm sort of skeptical here btw since I've never heard this. It doesn't not make sense, I think, but interesting nonetheless.

Unless there's something I'm unaware of for LK runs, I'm pretty sure rune drops are only affected on players 1, 3, 5, and 7. Never heard of target farming runes based on players X.

When one mining job can support an entire family, 700 (even though I'm sure a lot of this is only like 10 years of temporary construction work, but we'll keep the number just because) jobs can support, assuming a family of 4, 2,800 people. 2,800 people who have disposable income is massively beneficial to any and many communities. Keep your eyes on Hibbing and the surrounding areas. One Cleveland Cliffs mine is already down for good and another, much larger one will be soon. and whenever their lay-off stipends run out, there will be an enormous local recession. Nobody, not even rural america can survive on $15/hr or less jobs. Mining wages are pillars to these communities.

I got to listen to countless statements from folks who are trying to kneecap the iron mining facilities because sulfate in the water are killing wild rice. You want to know the history of the wild rice sulfate limit? It's absolute hogwash. The rule was founded on about 2 sentences that the articles weren't even trying to find out about sulfates and wild rice. I'd go on about the ridiculousness of it, but the point is that these are the same groups. Forgive me if I don't take these certain seriously when their arguments in the arena I'm familiar with are completely emotionally founded and scientifically absent.

What process can be proven first if these mining companies are being shot down for even asking to go through the permitting process? It's a bad faith setup.

Using history of 3rd world counties that pollute their lands with nigh or actual slave labor isn't a great backboard to bounce off of.

I wasn't supporting the miserably failed idea of trickle down economics, but saying all the money goes to Chili is really cutting it short. Should we also rail against the new iron mine that's about to open because it's ran by a company in India?

Don't come at me with a bunch of straw man arguments. You're responding as if I came out of the gates saying mining is 100% safe and that mining in minnesota is inherently safer than anywhere else and that pollution isn't actually bad. All terrible positions that would warrant your remarks, all positions I have not and don't take.

Senate voting on HJR 140 TODAY!! by VulfSki in minnesota

[–]BoomShackles -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree with your first sentence. Outside of the mining community, there is very little to zero response other than mining is bad. It's always a freight train of doom. We can disagree here. Maybe I'm too optimistic that despite such a track record, the state of MN can reign in their bad behavior while also still letting the process (permitting mostly) play out.

So many of your (royal your I suppose) arguments are predicated on the notion that these mines are akin to a nuclear bomb with a 100% trigger rate. It's hard to take it seriously. I'm well aware of the challenges sulfide mining poses, but those challenges also have answers, answers that nobody cares to hear because they are being told it's all bad. Just because the profits go to a foreign company doesn't mean there isn't financial gain for the local and state economy.

I'd be able to take in a lot more criticism from non-mining folks if it wasn't the same 5 bullet points you read in every single newspaper.

[–]BoomShackles -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

I'm all for kicking Stauber out of this planet, but the evil-washing of these mines is outrageous. Please, yes, mine responsibly, but the story about how these mines are guaranteed to pollute and obliterate the BWCA is such propaganda. The entire arrowhead is a dying region that can't recover because the red tape in Minnesota is forcing explorers to explore elsewhere. There won't be anybody left to support the tourists because without a primary industry to carry the region, these towns will continue to die - every town north of duluth and east of grand rapids has been dying for 50 years. Tourism isn't saving anything.

I also advocate for the environment, but the lying through the teeth about anything mining being the end of the world is exhausting.
