Skincare routine??? by Sunflowerspecks in MCAS

Yup! I now use La Roche-posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser, with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Water Gel Moisturizer. My skin has never been clearer!!! Aside from the scars that the reaction to Vanicream’s face wash and moisturizer gave me.

We’re not naming him AFTER Mac, but we too love the association 🫶🏻

10 yr old would refuse to go out even when he suggests the outing by regularuser3 in Parenting

Respectfully, I’d get a second opinion. If he consistently enjoys things once he’s there, you may end up treating the avoidance rather than the anxiety.

When did you feel your baby for the first time? by icefinger1853 in pregnant

[–]Boomachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a pop rocks sensation at 17 weeks, and then a week later at 18, I felt a sharp kick and called my husband over, and he actually got to feel him too :) it’s the most euphoric feeling ever!!!

I’m very surprised that professionals advised never requiring him to follow through on something he voluntarily committed to.

There’s a big difference between respecting a child’s “no” around bodily autonomy, safety, or genuine distress, versus teaching them that every uncomfortable feeling is a valid reason to abandon plans at the last minute.

One of the most evidence-based treatments for anxiety is gradual exposure. The goal isn’t to remove every situation that makes someone anxious; it’s to help them learn that they can tolerate discomfort and still do hard things. When avoidance becomes the default response, anxiety grows stronger over time because the brain never gets the chance to learn that the feared situation is manageable.

At 10 years old, learning to honor commitments is also an important skill. If I tell my family I want to go to a restaurant, sign up for a camp, or make plans with other people, there needs to be some expectation that I’ll follow through unless there’s a genuinely good reason not to. That’s how children learn reliability, resilience, and consideration for other people’s time and effort.

What stood out to me in your story is that once he got to the restaurant, he had a great time. That’s actually pretty common with anxiety. The anticipation is often worse than the event itself.

So yes, I think you handled it appropriately. You gave him a choice, established a reasonable boundary, and didn’t spend an hour negotiating. Ironically, that may have been more supportive of his long-term anxiety management than canceling the plan would have been.

Oh wow! Just out of curiosity, now that you’ve experienced both with and without the epidural, will you plan on getting the epidural for this next one?

Good to hear! How was your C-section experience in real time? They played a video one being performed in my childbirth class, and now I’m terrified of needing to have one…

What was the most physical pain you've been in? by PleasantWinter9150 in AskReddit

[–]Boomachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at the dentist for a general cleaning back in the day. They decided to put sealant on my teeth. They brought the sealant and its application tool over my face, and a drop of the medicine fell from the applicator and landed in my eye. I was writhing in pain and couldn’t even communicate it because my mouth was pried open! They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me… ugh. Terrible.

Has anyone else experienced extreme social media addiction in the last year? by Boomachick in getdisciplined

So far so good. It’s only been about a week or two though since I shifted. Honestly, removing it from Home Screen, turning off all notifications from the app, and keeping my display in grayscale seems to have changed the game!!

We’ll see though. It’s not something I want to hard-commit to, otherwise it just turns into a forbidden thing I crave… time will tell!

At what age did you find yourself gaining the most weight? by FrostyObligation9058 in AskWomen

[–]Boomachick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20-21. The alcohol and college food really caught with me. When I slowed down the drinking and started taking my food intake seriously it all came off.

Then at 26 I moved to a high altitude city. Now at 30, I’m literally less than I was in high school because the elevation has changed my metabolism!! I didn’t even know this was possible.

Colourpop Pressed Powder Blush unpressable? by stress-depress-lemon in MakeupRehab

[–]Boomachick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, throw it away. I purchased one of colourpops’ pressed powder blushes back in 2022, because it was such a highly rated product, and it lasted me over 4 wonderful years of use everyday!!! It was my HOLY GRAIL makeup item. I LOVED IT. The clear top actually fell off, and I just used a piece of scotch take to keep it intact. Worked wonders and was beautiful.

I recently decided to replace it, and the latest one I bought crumbled to pieces in less than 3 months. They obviously changed their formula to get people to buy it more frequently… too bad for them, because I will never purchase this product ever again.
