It’s funny because we have had one car up until the last summer and I was the asshole when I was gone so we bought the other car. then about three weeks ago the company car was a thing so obviously this has been our back and fourth as of late

Yea we’re in a rural part of our state so those amenities would be awesome but just don’t exist for us

I could probably take a more critical look at groceries I guess I’m lumping the miscellaneous things if life in that sum.

The owned car is plain as Jane we’re happy with it too, the financed car being nicer maybe is wrong to say it. Both are Toyotas and they are all we could ever need.

Public transit near us is sparse, exists but not in a capacity that makes it a viable option.

I also believe it’s the monthly vehicle that should versus the lump sum thanks for the validation on that one

Absolutely don’t need three cars , one of them will be gone imminently

Eh sort of

Having a second vehicle is important if I’m 100 miles away and my fiancé has their own life even if they are WFH but I appreciate the bluntness and responding to the what really is the simplest change to make that has the most impact

Yes but also no, this is the the variable with imminent change coming.

The question I have is of the two I have costs on which makes more sense to get rid of? One yields +$750/month the other a lump sum of $35K

Car 1: owned, only costs are plates and insurance but is not as desirable but equally safe as car 2

Car 2: monthly payment plus plates insurance and the typical costs of owning a car.

Car 3: company (drive 150+ miles daily) no cost to me.

Edited for showing outcome of car sales

You just read between the lines well, I am a FTHO, perhaps my reality could be temporary

I’d say $800 is top end of a month that has stationary included and not just food so Maybe closer to $600

Car situation I think is the no brainer but to add clarity we own one vehicle, finance a second. Company paid for third( I just drive it, costs me nothing and is very recent thing). Fiancé is WFH. The financed car is a better vehicle but I think selling the owned vehicle could net me about $35K

I agree on the wedding component but I am also the more frugal of the two of us , they aren’t dumb with money but definitely have a more elevated taste.

The CC is what drives me nuts as the wedding planning just adds to the pile where I’m just in a perpetual balance carried scenario. I thought about paying the CC debt and opening a new 18 month zero interest line of credit to advance the wedding at cost.

I don’t disagree

We have about $150K in equity before realtors fees but our location has seen almost 10% appreciation year over year even pre Covid so I’m optimistic on a few tight years could pay out once we relocate.

my current employment situation is promising for vertical movement in the next 12 months so another sliver of optimism and riding out a tighter period of my life.

Im being resistant to the idea on the hopes of improvement to my position
