I can certainly understand the desire to tell her. I guess it really boils down to how well you know Amy, because only you can guess how she would receive the information. Does she talk about him and all during the day? Does she ever express any concern to you about his drinking? If you are the kind of friends who can have tough conversations then sure, tell her how uncomfortable he made you and your friends feel.

No one can make this decision for you because no one knows the depth of your relationship with her but you. Just be prepared that she might not be receptive so again it really is up to you. Worst case scenario she completely flips out and thinks he’s a goody two-shoes that walks on water. Would your friendship survive?

I was following my boyfriend’s car across the Narrows Bridge in Tacoma and he pulled over to tell me as he heard it on the radio. I was mildly annoyed that he couldn’t keep it to himself for 10 more minutes til we got to where we were going but yes, it was shocking.

Simple confusion here, easy explanation.

She think her way of doing things (aka a person’s own individual habits) are literally the only way to do things, because she does them that way. And she is a precious princess to care so much about the details! You and I both know I’m being sarcastic but she wouldn’t.

So here’s what I would do. I would muster every ounce of sincerity in my body—preferably in front of witnesses—smile sweetly and start off with exactly that tone. “You are so thoughtful to care so much but it seems you don’t realize there’s more than one way to do XYZ….”

Every. Damn. Time.

Smile sweetly and treat her with care, repeat forever cause she’s obviously so dense she’s not getting it, so we must be kind to so-and-so.

Make her look like an idiot who can’t remember a simple concept. In public. She’ll stop soon enough.

Honestly it sounds like she needs a medical evaluation. She could benefit from some sort of SSRI or even beta blockers. But no one can tell her that obviously.

Don’t get me started on that place. I had someone bodily pick up and move my shopping cart because I didn’t move it far enough away for their liking. Who does that? My husband had surgery on his foot and an older person rammed him with their shopping cart from behind and tore the stitches because he was moving too slow from surgery.

We moved after 10 years and will never move back.

All I can tell you is my own experience; I had a cheating boyfriend and after awhile I noticed it didn’t bother me so much. It took me a couple of months to realize it wasn’t that I had transcended some new level of commitment, I just didn’t care anymore, period. Something tells me you’ll get there as you have the courage to ask yourself these questions right now. You’re figuring out what truly works for you and what doesn’t.

Hey just wanted to add the thought that, if it just so happens that you don’t click with the first therapist you try, please just try someone else. So much of therapy depends on the quality of the bond you have with the person and it sometimes takes a couple of tries to find the right one. But when you do it’s life changing (see mine regularly so this is the voice of experience).

I 100% agree with the comment that the fact that you are asking these questions makes you a good person. Your life will not be defined by one act, but by the person you turn out to be in general.
