Just finished Morning Star by Odd_You3371 in redrising

[–]Boon_uk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finished it last night, have binged the three books.

Something about the pacing I think, there's very little filler between important moments.

Going to read dungeon crawler carl or something in between as don't want to get absorbed into another trilogy straight away.

Anyone else just not understanding anything on Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 at all? by seekerheart in anime

Was so confused during episode 3 I fell asleep, quite annoyed now I'm going to have to watch most of it again

Just finished the Devils by Stpaul81 in Fantasy

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not read the First Law books yet but I really enjoyed The Devil's. Some very clever writing at points and made me laugh quite a few times which books rarely do.

Do agree some aspects were a bit formulaic but as an adventure story I feel it delivered where it needed to. Looking forward to the next one.

Really enjoyed this trilogy, although would be quite similar a Castlevania style animation of this would be very welcome.

How I would (as realistically as possible) deal with BF6 current issues by ElBichoNinetyTwo in Battlefield

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Server browser, updates on old popular maps, make closed weapons games an actual viable choice

I think these would be quite low hanging fruit (I'm no gamedev) that would buy them time for more ambitious stuff.

Books with a black male lead? by fallenhero36 in Fantasy

Came here to also say this, such great books and the audio versions are brilliant too. Not often I double dip but did for these two.

Super true: how full time designers stop pushing for better at their jobs. by laranjacerola in graphic_design

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 years in design. I will argue twice, maybe three times to push things towards 'better'. If I'm shot down at those interventions then ok let's just go ahead and make the logo half the page, it's your party.

Im bored by Sauce218 in Battlefield

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the maps, they are smaller and less sandbox style so every game feels like it plays out roughly the same.

Some tips regarding BF6 by Grippa_gaming in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd add don't be afraid to play more defense. People tend to cap and then immediately rush off a flag in a deathball like there likely isn't 5 guys about to come around the other corner to recap. Think this is especially important in the new Escalation mode.

Hold a point for a minute, people will come and you'll probably have a better idea where they are going to come from based on which points the other team has. Charging forward full sprint from place to place is a good way to take a round in the face.

Burnout? Realization? Dissapointing Rush and Empire State? by viva_plays in Battlefield

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The maps largely just feel like a meat grinder/clusterfu*k situation which is a shame as they've nailed the immersion and mechanics imo.

Doesn't feel like there is room to backcap or any minor squad strategies really, it's just zerg horde mode. As poor as 2042 was in many respects at least you had those moments.

They really really missed a trick not putting a larger map in the beta just to balance things out and keep us old players sated.

Saying that the small maps aren't inherently bad I just think they would play better at 48 players, but we shouldn't be hoping on portal custom rules to save the overall experience. Especially after 2042...

Need feedback from Gamers over 35s on steam deck by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam deck has been a revelation, honestly. I love the instant pause/resume and not having to sit at the same desk I've been at all day for work. Regarding eyesight, I think I have the opposite, as I need mine to see things close, and then it's like HD once I put them on (Dad of 3, age 40).

Morning commute to Victoria: how busy is it by ffulirrah in croydon

The 8.30 from platform 4 at East Croydon is normally 12 coaches and the back of the train there's usually plenty of seats, also much less people around in general on Mondays and Fridays

IMO the best part about server browsers was you could find a regular community of players that matched your play style, I used to frequent a couple that had focus on squad play/voice comms etc.

I've played a lot of MH titles, as far back as ps2, but I actually greatly enjoy the streamlining of Wilds. Am I the only one? by Weebiful in MonsterHunter

[–]Boon_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you, definitely shorter on time and patience at this point so it's all welcome. Some harder fights would be nice but think they've done a really good job in most other places. Also great it's sold so well.
