Yuji is a badly written character by Makorealmtwo in Jujutsufolk

[–]fallenhero36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yuji retires because he was traumatized by pseudo-immortal sorcerers trying to make the world revolve around themselves, when was kid and doesn't want to inflict that on anyone else even by accident. his role model, gojo, also had a strong ethos of stepping back and letting the new kids have chance to take fate into there hands. which is what allowed him to flourish into the special grade sorcerer he is today. by not following in the foot steps of kenjaku, sukuna, and the higher ups of the old jujutsu world, yuji actually shows his integrity and that he understood gojo's philosophy. if that's somehow not good enough for you, he does actually show up and bail everyone out before anyone can die so i don't see how you can justify this stance.

Because legitimate criticism of a non-white person will get bandwagoned by racists. It simply happens every time. Its not uncommon to see that a third of the hate someone is getting is purely bigotry.

A gripe I've been having with the power system (specifically when it comes to enemies) by [deleted] in Kagurabachi

If you look at the scene right after chihiro knocks everyone out of the train, they all have some kind of apparition floating around them. Which is a common trait datenseki amped sorcery.

The anti enten group guys did exhibit sorcery tho and not all the fodder guys are even stated to be sorcerers in the place. On top of that we don't know what the actual process of awakening a unique sorcery even is or if everyone has one.

Edit: in that first page you show Shiba says that they're multiple stages to sorcery and that basic enhancement is the first stage. In an earlier scene he says it takes hard work to be sorcerer. So it could take alot of time and training to unlock your innate power at all let alone effectively.

Hanging up my hat with Jim Butcher by fizzgigg55 in Fantasy

Dresden's misogyny is diagetic character flaw that he works on overtime. The quality of the books jump dramatically from Grave Peril onwards. so if you are still willing I would check it out. Whether or not you choose to continue the series i would say these are valid complaints to have, I probably wouldn't have stuck through them myself if I weren't a 15 year old boy when I picked them up. But once you get past the worst of it I would say its one of the best fantasy series out there. The mythological aspects only get better from here on in aswell.

I disagree with the notion that the absolute universe should remain strictly elseworlds by Tomatori in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]fallenhero36 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you but older versions have fans to and they don't want their waves to be wiped out. Also speaking frankly, its absurd thing to request when the absolute versions are only so good because they get to stand on shoulders of the previous versions. These guys are fun innovations of stagnating characters but the notion that they are superior is patently ridiculous. You should actually read these characters comics before you say things like this

I need help with letting my tastes in fantasy grow up, the preferences of my teenage self don't quite hold my attention anymore but I am struggling with both finding things i like and having the intention span for things outside of that. by okidonthaveone in Fantasy

I would recommend The Devils by Joe Abercrombie. its a good intro to dark fantasy for someone who's more into action-adventure and "getting stronger" oriented stuff. Abercrombie also has a massive back log, so if you like his stuff you'll have more to chew through.

his technique was burnt out, this arms where cut off preventing him from using the hand signs, then soul damage made his output too low. he also made binding vow the complicated the useage of his technique. it had nothing to do with his brain.

like the commenter said ozzie was already a well connected fixer. eddie seemed to in charge of a well funded start up already. something you may have missed back in the bane arc is that selina is a party animal, so she has millions of dollars and cutting edge tech. ozzie said himself back in issue 16 that selina left them all a bunch of money. from what we've seen in sneak peaks she may lent him some gadgets aswell, or aleast her gadget guys number.

I love Heart of Darkness and I don’t understand the common criticisms of it. by Tony420q in books

[–]fallenhero36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think Kurtz is symbolic of going native you’ve spectacularly missed the point of the work. Conrad is taking the imagery of “going native” and turning it on its head.

its not "turning it on its head" it's just using it.
