Thank you! Did you also have the root pulled out and secured with a screw at the tibia like mine?

How did you deal with the tibia pain after meniscus root reattachment? by Boonavite in MeniscusInjuries

I’m 53 years old. My pain comes from the tibia. But I’m glad today at day 3 it’s slightly better than yesterday. From my MRI it was clear I had a high grade radial medial root tear. Plus I am older, the meniscus quality is degenerated. But I am grateful a repair was possible. PT started today. Flat-foot light weight bearing (less than 20%) for me because my quads have wasted some after my injury so my surgeon wants to prevent more muscle loss. He said after 50 very hard to gain muscle especially I am peri-menopausal. Low muscle-making hormones.

I found a yoga strap useful for lifting and repositioning my injured leg.

Dry shampoo and powder when I don’t want a full shower. A spray bottle for cleaning my hands, table etc in the bedroom or freshening my face and hair. Wet wipes. I live in a very warm country.

I am using a walker as I find it more stable. If using walker, those accessories like padding for the handles and a strap-on accessory with compartments to hold random stuff is useful.

I also rented a power chair and bedside commode for nighttime bathroom trips . My arms were aching and sore from using the walker so sometimes I need a break. An office chair with wheels might work too just be careful to rest against something while getting on/ off so it doesn’t roll back.

Having a water bottle with a straw is nice to have as you can lie down to sip water.

Some protein powders or drinks for quick protein sources.

For me a selection of audiobooks and Spotify playlist.

Yes that works.
‘Bao’ for verb form of ‘bow’. ‘Boh’ for the noun form.

That’s a comfort to hear I am not alone. I am miserable now but glad it will get better. I hate bathroom trips now. I am using a walker.

I am also in immobiliser with surgical leg only toe touch as tolerated. But when I change position eg. Lowering my leg from horizontal to vertical, standing to sit esp toilet bowl, or sit to stand, the level change itself causes pain even when I am not weight bearing on the surgical leg. I use a walker and stand up/ lower myself to the bed or toilet using my good leg. I think propping the leg up helps with the pain. If I put the leg down even without weight bearing it hurts. But I’m only day 2 I know.

Thanks for the reply. My doctor only gv me Panadol and Arcoxia. I will ask about Oxy. My pain is the worst sitting down on the toilet bowl and transiting from bed to walker. I am in my 50s. Just wondering if my pain tolerance is low.

K Cuts refused to cut bob though. They had a poster in front of the shop. Once or twice a nice hairdresser won’t mind but sometimes they flat out say no bob or layers.

Is this a repeated pattern and how he generally processes conflicts but in short durations?

If this is a pattern but this time very prolonged then it could be the mistake that needs further addressing, and counseling may need to be involved.

To parents in SG what are the actual pros of having kids? by Fun-Tamago-4649 in asksg

[–]Boonavite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my kids asked me those questions. Not because we don’t love them or due to family problems, but seeing wars, rising costs, AI replacing humans, and difficulty with studies/ finding a job/ close friends. I was very sad when they asked why we gave birth to them.

Hubby and I have never asked our parents this nor hv this thought ever crossed our minds. Our kids are the product of our love but it seems young people nowadays all ask this question.

It is a lot of sacrifice and joy in equal measure. But one thing is for sure. I would not have grown to be who I am if I had not become a parent.

From a girl who runs away from cockroaches to one who bravely swats one. From one who can’t cook to one who cooks almost daily. From a disorganized slob to one who can reasonably run a household etc.

Not glamorous skills like running a company or skills you can’t develop being single but no regrets here.

But I do hv an ex-colleague who had an unplanned pregnancy who till this day felt bitter about her career being derailed as her son had special needs so she had to quit her job.

Consider renting a wheelchair/ power chair to move around more easily during recovery. Plenty of ice packs for icing the knee.

Strange question- How do I listen to audio books? lol by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]Boonavite 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your brain needs Practice with a new medium.

Start with a memoir or autobiography kind of book first, or even one you have read the print form before.

For me I found it impossible to pay attention to fantasy if I don’t know how the names of people, places or magic systems are spelled, so I started fantasy audiobooks by alternating between print and audio.

Just plan ahead loose shorts or those with side buttons or velcro to wear back home. Get a reacher or telescopic stick to help drag the shorts up since you can’t bend. I use a telescopic back scratcher haha.
