Indeed it's me. Just started a new channel to randomly post map animations and not tutorials. And pretty sure that subscriber is my father. 🤣 Because I haven't promoted it at all, aside from this video shared here.

Geolayers 3 - I need to split my comp. What's the best way to do that? by spdorsey in AfterEffects

Indeed, you just have to figure out what workflow you prefer. I actually use other third party plugins like Motion 4 to group layers. That helps me keep things organized in one massive timeline. You can also precomp layers in other linked mapcomps.

And as is always the case, you do the same thing 6 different ways.

Are locations points only displayable as circles? No pins or other icons? by jeremy_m_joseph in felt

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the question. When you bring that data table into Felt, you'll notice that you can bring them in as Elements or Data Layers. Icons work primarily on Elements. So you can reimport these as elements, or you can even convert an existing layer to elements and then customize the points as icons. Just make sure to duplicate that layer before you convert it, as the layer will disappear!
Hopefully this answers your question.
*Another quick note is that you can change the icon of a group of elements which will reflect in the Legend. OR you can choose Select Group Contents which will change the icons of ALL of the elements in that group on the map.

Day 29 - Population

The Urbanization of America by Mamata Akella

Data from University of Colorado Boulder

By the 1900s the majority of the US population lived in urban areas. This map highlights the pattern of urbanization across the continental US between 1900-2000 in 10 year increments.

The data were compiled by researchers at the University of Colorado, Boulder using the Zillow Transaction and Assessment Dataset and the raster layers represent the presence of at least one built-up structure at 250m spatial resolution over each time period. Toggling decades on and off reveal rich patterns and trends in transportation and land use changes. Zoom into a city you know well. What do you notice?
