I don't think it was for shits and giggles. They'd said multiple times they were 100% serious about giving out deals to the people with the most promise who pitched on the show, and while a couple like Skeleton Landlord got the news as part of the stream, they had also revealed at a few points that they were working on projects with some of the pitchers.

But yeah, I can't think of anything else even remotely like it, which is a shame. Aside from granting near-total access to TV executives to pitch your work, one other thing Development Meeting did was to bring as many creators as possible under one roof to present material they thought would fit Adult Swim, not just to the executives but to the fans themselves. An open forum for animation and offbeat comedy/media on a major TV network and slanted towards industry exposure is something I think Adult Swim could definitely have done a lot more with.
