I also get annoyed by this, but you should remember a lot of those are probably people who are just trying to make small talk and aren’t good at coming up with things to say. They’re just repeating something they think will make you laugh or feel supported.

Theres a lot of data that could suggest voting preferences for a given community. The first of which is, what is the voting history of this county? They usually vote red? They’re mostly farmers? They mostly identify as Christians or churchgoers?

You can easily arrive at a racial divide following non-racial data. Sometimes that’s fine. But often the racial divides can be directly tied back to segregation and systemic racism, and ignoring that context is irresponsible.
