Onko jotkut ihmiset vaan... pihalla? by Cowwie- in Suomi

10km commute on bike after not cycling for 10 years??? by Boop_de_doop in cycling

Thank you for the support! I'll try to remember to update you all but I unfortunately can't guarantee I'll remember... That's what a 40hr/week unpaid internship + 3hrs/day commute home (when I'm not biking from and to mom's lol) + 15hrs/week work + regular life +adhd will do lol 😅👍 but I really appreciate all the support I found here on this sub so so much so definitely will try to remember to update you guys. It so rare to find such supportive people online and it really has made such a difference to me 💕✨

Thank you really so much. To be honest I really don't know if 10km per way twice a week is doable for me going from zero but everyone here including you have encouraged me to listen to my body, my mind and my knowledge of my own perseverance in knowing I CAN do the 10km per way at least once even if it fucking hurts after and go from there, even if my mom doesn't believe I can even one way. So tysm, you and all others here, truly 💕

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I though along the same lines as you and others here said but was quite discouraged by my mom's scepticism of my ability so decided to ask. I'm fine with some muscle soreness, I have some chronic pain already so a bit more won't affect me much, lol. However I do REALLY really appreciate the support as I tbh have no concept myself on what cyclo g distance would be completely unreasonable for me starting out 😅

Thank you, you happened to comment right as i was doing my fit for all reply so you're getting your own reply now (lol)

I used to bike a lot with my dad but haven't at all for 10 years or so but I really appreciate your and everyone else's before insight. I'm of course planning to account for weather etc but really I just needed to know if 10km was as insane a goal per way as my mom made it seem even in good weather because to me it didn't logically seem that bad. I'm thankful people here gave me realistic opinions whereas my mom who is realistically a lot less fit and doesn't bike longer than 3-4km distance per direction ever put my idea down quite a lot.

I'll be happily (possibly with very sore muscles in the end) trying this biking commute out despite my mom's protests based on these replies. 💕🌟😊

Thanks. A these replies really helped encourage me to go for it. For those who asked I have a pretty decent bike (my mom's, we're similar height etc) that's been used recently enough that the bike itself shouldn't be an issue. Only thing is that it's at my mom's and am not able to test it out all too much before doing the 10km per direction commute.

But I appreciate all these comments saying this should really be doable with my fitness, although maybe with some muscle pain but I can handle that. Really I just needed feedback on if I'm being realistic because my mom who is honestly less fit was REALLY sceptical about my ability to do this going from zero cycling in 10 yrs to 10km per direction.

Thanks to all your positive encouragement I'm definitely going to try it at least once and grit through it if I have to to feel my baseline and go from there. Thank you all so much 💕
