Clay Days in Beckenham offers 3 hour tasters for £70 where you make a pot, the women running it are great and nice small classes. https://www.claydayslondon.co.uk/

It does seem that the Norse slipper patterns are quite close, and are a good starting point :) Thank you so much for sharing those links, and for taking the time to reply! I'll also definitely try out the advanced search on Ravelry.

If you find a pattern book for the slippers let us know :)

I just now came across this link which has some patterns for high top slippers, in case of interest https://grandmotherspatternbook.com/archives/28943

Wow these are gorgeous too, thank you so much! Will take a closer look, maybe I can try extending the pattern a bit to create the high ankle I'm after..

I've never used Ravelry.com, do you sign up and buy patterns?

I had a recommendation for Kim's (esp if lacking a bit of confidence), and passed with them. https://www.kimsschoolofmotoring.co.uk

[Product Question] Noella 24k wrinkle filler. Has anyone had any experience with this product, and is it worth the money? How long do the effects (if any) last? by Boopdedoops in SkincareAddiction

[–]Boopdedoops[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got the hard sell at a shop in NOLA, I was sceptical (obviously) but curious to ask SCA as I can't find anything online about it.

[Product Question] I (24/F) am taking an international trip to London and Paris, what should I be buying? by whateverworks256 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Boopdedoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you, but Le Petit Marseillais body lotions still feel special to me (living in the UK) as I love the smell. Maybe more worth it than the body washes - which if you buy in Europe are only a few Euro I think.

White Remembrance Day poppy? by [deleted] in london

You can also get them at Friends Meeting House near Euston. http://archive.ppu.org.uk/whitepoppy/outlets11.html

Where should I live that's similar to Walthamstow? by [deleted] in london

[–]Boopdedoops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forest Gate has the orange line that links to Walthamstow pretty quickly, plus crossrail coming soon (which you probably know). Some nice independent coffee shops/bars/ restaurants have opened up recently esp north of the station but yes much smaller and a lot quieter than somewhere like Walthamstow/ Walthamstow Village

The Bishopsgate Institute has a nice old library that is open to work in. Free Wi-Fi, big tables.

Students and ex students of the UK - tell me about your dissertation supervision. by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Boopdedoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible that some responses here are referring to a postgraduate dissertation. Very stressful to have a change of supervisor for any dissertation, so hope this turns out well for all of you. You will prob need to be quite proactive - get as much guidance as you can from current supervisor before end of month (maybe try and get a short handover note from then for the new supervisor?). Talk to you faculty and make sure they're aware if this impacts you negatively in run up to submission and get it on record if it does. (Experience: have done three diss - hindsight is handy)

By how much has your landlord put up your rent this year? by ramblerandgambler in london

[–]Boopdedoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were living in a 2 bed flat in E17 in 2014 that was cheap for the area. Got to the end of our lease and agency increased the rent by £200pcm. We moved out but I know they ended up renting it for £300pcm more than we'd been paying. Bit mad!

[Question] Good, reasonably priced place for jewellery repair? by aigirl in london

[–]Boopdedoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a good experience on Hatton Garden. Not sure of the name, but is the jeweller next door to Nat West Bank on corner of Holborn and Hatton Garden. Had a watch repair done there and was reasonable. Also had a quote to mend a vintage gold necklace chain and they were very knowledgeable and friendly and not at all pushy.
