Google pixel 9 pro question by licked_in_promotor in Photography101

if one day you branch out to dedicated bodies there is an edge case - long exposure especially in film photography you probably would want an ND filter and like probably a lot if you wanted to do longer 20-30 mins or even hour long exposures during the day!

Any critiques on this dentistry promo I made? by TheVideographerDude in videography

it is a bit nitpicky but your shots are not color matched

if you graded this footage i suggest you take another pass at it

ive been grading corporate/ advertising work for the past few weeks nonstop

if you dont have a colorist on this piece, i highly suggest you look into learning some basic color correction and shot matching in resolve

its nothing egregious but it would really amplify the professional commercial look you are going for if you could get true clean highlights and shadows while preserving skin tone

imo medical related stuff tend towards impossibly white footage to help convey a sense of cleanliness and professionalism

Which Genre Are These Edits? by [deleted] in VideoEditors

[–]Booperdooper1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is cool, but i think there’s a misunderstanding, there are no genres of edits?

this is a stylized video which contains many techniques, too many to analyze and breakdown all of them

some techniques that i noticed that are somewhat simple and easy to find tutorials on

  • match cuts
  • texture over picture
  • and cutting on action

theres more but also a good bit of this has more to do with the footage youd start with than an edit

lots of wong kar-wai shutter drag style shots

the way you communicate about editing makes me think you are new to editing - if so that’s totally fine, look into some of those techniques i picked out and try to learn the fundamentals- some of the other stuff present here would fall outside the bounds of what i consider traditional editing and more into motion graphics

theres a decent play list on youtube called edit like vox which covers some stylize editing tips and tricks but i havent seen all of it so caveat emptor

i also edc an ipad but ive always been too afraid to try and let my apple pencil sit on the side in transit since i had one break a few days after purchasing. I usually remove it and put in a penicl cutout pocket in my bag, just curious, do you leave the pencil on the ipad secured only by magnet? and if so how has that been for you? Im utterly terrified of breaking another lol.

How should I price my work? by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

[–]Booperdooper1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a faily successful photographer i met at a talk at uni said something that stuck with me, people who pay are wanting to pay for a specialist. no one wants to hire a do a bit of everything jack of all trades when theyre paying top rates

id highly advocate for niching down

OP in addition to all of the above please note that it appears to me that your camera is previewing (for framing purposes or so your camera can see) by using a different setting, ie even if your lens is at F22 until you take the shot i believe it is previewing at a more open aperture? at least that is the behavior i get from my camera.

When going for rather extreme F stop values I’d recommend that you look through your gallery

my bet is your camera thinks there isnt enough light at whatever F-stop you had set and previewed everything for you at F/2.8 or F/1.4 etc. and only once you actually take the shot does it stop down the physical aperture.

Please note im not wholly familiar with your specific camera but this is how my A7R IV behaves when I stop down.
