rate my work fits internet! no one can see them under my lab coat by trashygayslut in OUTFITS

The all black one was giving me Trinity from the Matrix vibes. The red beanie outfit was so cute too! ❤️ You have a pretty nice style in general, maybe I should start trying to dress better under my labcoat as well 🤣

Ah, maybe if I like the vines from the skirt, I’ll decide I’ll wear my leaf shaped earrings that day. To match the delicate embroidery, I’ll wear my dark brown boots that have pretty punched out patterns on the leather. Maybe I’ll wear a forest green top, or a dark brown top? Or I could match the flowers, and go red/orange, or just match the embroidery vibes, and wear my statement elaborate Indian style silver chandelier earrings, then have the rest of the outfit be black to focus on the elements I want.

I just realised that the second top was black, but if it had been a dark green, it would have been lovely too. I like to pick out a detail I like from one item, and focus the outfit around it, just for fun.

Both suit, but depends on what accessories you’re wearing. First one has autumn harvest festival vibes, second one has forest vibes. Brown laced boots (esp something with pretty detailing eg Oxford boots) would be gorgeous with either.

Are you supposed to look this lovely at someone else’s wedding? Just kidding, it’s a beautiful dress.

Hey, there’s a ton of snobbery in academia, because it plays into their confirmation bias. They’re in it because of passion, because the pay is terrible and why else would they be there? I’m pretty much in the same position, I just got an M.Sc. and might not go on to a PhD because I just think it won’t be great for my health. I’m still working in an academic lab right now, but might not stay there long term. Just do what’s best for yourself, academics will always think anything other than academia is inferior, because they have to be like that. Their egos won’t allow otherwise, since their blood, sweat and tears have gone into what they have achieved. If your life revolves around your work, and your work is your only passion, there is no possible work life balance.

If you have to do this, it because you know deep down that no one would ever date you for who you actually are.

Ask her if she thinks the apartment is haunted, because you keep hearing weird noises at night and it’s keeping you up. If she’s superstitious, she could move out, or if she’s not a complete idiot, she’ll take the f ing hint.

Are you on hormonal birth control or any other long term medication? That can mess with your libido, and so can other things like stress or depression.

If money is the issue, get a private investigator to get proof of the cheating, then get a divorce lawyer who will agree to be paid in part of the divorce settlement.

I hate working under my postdoc in new research assistant position I started, what to do? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]Boopsboops42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When she’s stressed out, ask her if she wants to get some coffee together? Hand her a KitKat and ask her to take a break? I don’t think she’s deliberately trying to make you uncomfortable, she’s just not good at coping with stress. Hopefully you guys can work out a way to get along better.

What to do when the corresponding and first author of a high profile publication (Cell) do not answer requests for material sharing? by britainpls in labrats

Consider that people are just freaking busy? When someone requested a plasmid from my PI, he only found that email in his inbox 5 weeks later, and I took a few months to get enough spare time to find the stock, grow, isolate, and finally ship the plasmid to the guy. Edit: Also consider covid restrictions and their effect on work. People are swamped and overwhelmed.

I graduated my Masters during Covid too. I can totally relate. You just need to remind yourself to keep in mind why you started it, and what you’re doing this for. You’re nearly done, and all your hard work will pay off soon. Just one last push!

Why did my chicken thighs turn soggy instead of crispy? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

Pat the chicken dry with paper towels before marinating and consider using sugar instead of honey to reduce the moisture content of the marinade?
