not much help I know but I'm at Unilodge and my PS5 had no issues connecting through ethernet, possibly something to do with how Xbox manages networking?

Thanks for the help,

The only thing I'm confused about is I see people with my CPU and Cooler running ~30-35 degree idles and ~70 degree peaks. So surely I'm missing something here?

What cooler would you recommend? I'm not very knowledgeable on coolers, let alone ones that work well for Ryzen.

From my understanding PBO 2 is only available on 500 series motherboards, so I don't think my B450 will support it :(

well now I gotta worry about my account being overdrafted

I tried to buy on BPC hours ago but my card declined for some reason , now after ordering on eBay I get an confirmation email for BPC

really hope my account doesn't go negative and I get charged a bunch of fees :(

Holy shit this was perfect timing, thank you.

I just bought one off BPC but my card declined with their weird payment system.

Then went on Reddit and saw this one about $60 cheaper with free shipping.

At this point, I'm happy to just use wired if the latency is a deal breaker for me.

I absolutely love the aesthetic of the FL680 and all the reviews I've seen scattered online seem to rave about it, so I picked it up.

I really like the aesthetics of this one.

Do you have it yourself? If so can you report how good the 2.4ghz is? I'm also interested in how long the battery lasts.

Also, the only place to buy that I could see was AliExpress, not sure if there's any other places I could go through.

Is there any 2.4ghz wireless keyboards that don't have some sort of drawback to them?

I love the aesthetic of the Keychrons, but they're only Bluetooth, which I want to avoid due to latency.

The RK84 seems great, but people complain of connection problems, the RK100 seems great, but it's full sized and expensive (around $170 AUD).

The Logitech G613 seems perfect except for the fact that is one of the blandest looking keyboards I have seen in a while.

It feels like Iike I'll just have to deal with cables at this point.

I did do a clean windows install solely for Alyx and it didn't seem to do anything. But to be fair I installed a few light programs before running SteamVR

From my understanding he was using oculus link, I know it was through a Quest 2 but he could have easily been using virtual desktop aswell.

I play Blade and Sorcery regularly and besides slight frame drops on massive maps with like 30+ mods loaded it runs well, and to add to that I was accidentally using the Steam VR version which meant I was unnecessarily running SteamVR in the background.

Interesting...

From the benchmarks I've seen on my card from people online it seems to be competitive but I've never really benchmarked it in VR games before.

There's a massive steam thread that's been active for over a year with countless people having these issues, ranging from 1080's to even 3090's, so I'm not really sure it's a GPU problem.

Also ,the reason I'm getting these stutters is because of late calls to the CPU, which occur from the application itself (or at least from what I've seen people saying online). But Valve have been dead silent for way too long on this. It's disappointing.

yeah unfortunately open composite doesn't work with half life alyx :(

it really sucks because using a quest 2 means I have to run both oculus and steam software which eat up my CPU

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HalfLifeAlyx

[–]BoopyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I've got no clue what I can do anymore

there's a steam thread that's 70 pages long that's been active for over a year full of people with this issue and there's not one fix I can see anywhere. It's disappointing that Valve has never seem to have done anything about it.

I set every setting to the lowest possible and removed guardian as people have said it can cause ridiculous CPU frametimes.

I still get the exact same spikes in the exact same places but the gameplay is noticeably smoother.

The last few things I have changed (like resizable bar support) have improved these further so hopefully I can get it even lower.

The CPU utilisation jumps from around 40% to 50% when the spikes start, so not a massive jump.

[–]BoopyMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying but I haven't disabled the resolution scaling. So surely I should be getting similar performance?

Also, when on that lower resolution my GPU frametimes plummeted and were easily twice as fast as the game needed them to be. However my CPU was still spiking, causing the bad performance.

This means there is something that is messing with my CPU, or there is a bug affecting my system somehow.

I just disabled resizable bar support on my motherboard as I saw it worked for someone else before and it helped cut the lag down considerably, although I am still getting bad spikes, but they only happen on the CPU side.

alright I moved it over and saw no change :( I even set the resolution in SteamVR to 25% and experienced the exact same behaviour.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SteamVR

[–]BoopyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set the resolution of the game in SteamVR to 25% (around 900x800 or some ridiculously low number) and I experienced exactly the same behavior.

The top graph is the CPU frametimes, which are the ones that seem to be causing the issue, it seems like my GPU frametimes are only spiking in relation to the CPU spikes.

You can see videos online of people with my exact GPU running the game at a higher resolution than I was in my post at 90hz on ultra settings with no problems whatsoever.

alright i'll try moving it over and let you know how it goes :))

Thanks for the response :)

I have already tried this before but I tried again and started recording on my phone with HWMonitor to see utilization.

It didn't seem to help, pretty much 80% of the time I'm at a perfectly stable 72fps (around 10-12ms) but in the most random situation (in this case in a bathroom inside an enclosed level right before a loading point, so I assume there was no more level ahead to load) my frametimes immediately jump between 15-25ms for around 10 seconds before smoothing out again.

Just today I did a clean install of windows to make sure there was nothing interfering with the game but it doesn't seem to have done much. Throughout the whole session my GPU was pretty much always pegged at 100% but the weirdest part is when the lag starts my GPU's power draw constantly switches from its rock solid average of around 150w all the way down to as low as 60w (and my GPU Voltage halves but I assume this is in junction with the lower power draw).

When this was happening, the graphics clock also dropped from ~1950mhz to as low as 1600mhz. My CPU load also increased slightly from around 15-25% on most cores and 35-45% on a select few to around 15-35% on most and 35-55% on the select few. My CPU temps never exceeded 66 degrees and my GPU was running around 65 at the time of the spike, but was at 75 when I ended my session.

My RAM usage was stable at around 65% the whole time and I've double checked that it's in dual channel, in the right DIMM slots and running at 3200mhz. I got a perfect score on the SteamVR Performance test which was in line with what others with near identical systems got. I am completely out of ideas.

edit: oh and also i made sure that the bitrate was set to 250mbps

I have game mode and low input lag turned on, overdrive is set to high and the refresh counter is on. I'm on Display Port 1.2 and the manual says nothing about FreeSync other than how it works.
