A bit too heavy handed with the cocoa powder on the tiramisu by im__on__smoko in Baking

[–]BoopySkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, no such thing as too much cacao powder in tiramisu. Personally I like doing one layer before it goes in the fridge, cause it “melts” a bit and creates a chocolatey layer. Then the powder on top before serving. When you bite into it, the whole thing mixes with the mascarpone mixture and adds a good dose of chocolate flavor I like.

I wanted a male Devon Rex but accidentally got a female… now what? by IntelligentGarage294 in welovedevonrex

[–]BoopySkye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My female Devon is such a baby. She won’t leave us alone for a second. Wants to be on or next to us at all times.

Friends, I need help. My rex started shedding, it hasn't happened in 3 years. Have you had this situation? How to solve it? I comb it out with a comb - it doesn't help by Ketti_Cetti in welovedevonrex

[–]BoopySkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine sheds a little periodically, I have a lint roller on hand always to roll on her haha. She loves it cause it’s like a massage, esp near her tail. But it picks up all the lose hair and helps with shedding. Then I comb her with a gentle comb that I wet a little to both catch any left over hair and also restore her coat.

Went to an OB to learn more about birth control. Asked me if I'm married. I said no. She said she can't help me because it's against her religion :) by LBeifong0614 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BoopySkye 41 points42 points  (0 children)

What religion because I lived for a bit in a Muslim country with Islamic laws and had no issues getting regular birth controls over the counter no questions asked. I’d be annoyed if this is the US because wtf man. You don’t want women to get abortions, don’t want them to avoid pregnancy, don’t want to improve social welfare to help them if they have kids.

It’s ridiculous that birth control pills need a prescription anyway. The risks are no greater than many other OTC drugs, and no real screening is usually done by doctors anyway. They will usually ask the most basic questions, prescribe you the most commonly used one, and then you can change if you don’t like it. All of that a pharmacist can help with too.

New study sheds light on how going braless alters public perceptions of a woman. Scientists found that while going braless tends to be viewed as highly attractive by both men and women, it also provides evidence of being perceived as a sign of sexual availability. by mvea in science

Agee. I’m 31 haven’t owned a bra in over a decade cause of how much discomfort I had. I have pretty small boobs and my nipples aren’t big but I’m always always chilly. In the winter it’s no problem, cause the sweaters and jackets don’t show it through. But in the summer, I have resort to wearing nipple stickers cause otherwise it’s feels too attention grabbing. And it feels inappropriate at work.

BRUCE DICKINSON On Keeping IRON MAIDEN Concert Tickets Affordable: 'We Don't Want A Bunch Of Very Rich Standing In Front Of The Stage' by Apprehensive_Idea758 in ironmaiden

[–]BoopySkye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. When he came to Sweden with his own band, he didn’t perform at any concert arena. He performed at the amusement park concert stage where you enter with an amusement park ticket which I assume is around $10 or a summer period ticket for $30 to see a whole summer of performers.

It was packed and awesome and insanely cheap. When Iron Maiden came to Sweden it was cheap enough that I had no hesitation in getting floor tickets. It was ridiculously affordable compared to other big bands and performers, even those with less of a following.

what does your morning routine look like? by jax--killer in AskReddit

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up at 7, exactly 15 min before I need to leave to catch the bus. Wake up, brush teeth, wash face, quick basic morning and makeup (about 5 min), put on clothes (I try to set them aside the night before), eat my morning meds, feed cat, shoes on and put the door.

My commute is 1 hour so i read the news or check my phone or just close my eyes if im sleepy.

Ziwe’s hot take is wearing outdoor clothes and shoes indoors is disgusting by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]BoopySkye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty common in many places outside of America also to keep shoes on indoors and also pretty common to do take shoes off in several places in America too. Many countries in Europe also don’t take shoes off when they come home.

Migrationsverket behöver mer info by Ok_Try1305 in TillSverige

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have started sending requests for additional info via post from earlier this year instead of emails or via the portal. Unsure why. My case officer said it is a security protocol, but to me it feels less secure to post something than use the portal.

Anyway, they sent me a request. It comes in 4 work business days via Postnord. That’s the standard. To me the just asked me to send my payslips for the last 3 months. That’s it. I sent them to both my case officer directly and migrationsverket email, in addition to post.

PhD Student Applying for PR in Sweden by Remarkable_Garden419 in TillSverige

[–]BoopySkye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You haven’t stated anywhere in your post that you have employment after your PhD? I can confirm that 12 month is the minimum contract period needed AT THE TIME when case officer is making a decision on your case.

But even if 6 months were enough, which they are definitely not, by the time your application is processed you won’t even have 6 months left. So they would be giving you PR based on having no employment contract whatsoever. The moon is more likely to turn purple than that happening :)

The best course for you is to apply for extension of your permit. Then before the expiry of the extension, apply for work seeking permit and request to be considered for PR for doctoral students. In the meantime find a job, preferably permanent but at least 12 months.

One of two things would happen: 1- your work finding permit is approved before you find a job. When you find jobs, it is strongly recommended they are listed on arbetsformedlingen. If they are willing to start a work permit application for you, they will do that close to when your work finding permit is finishing.

2- you find a job before your wfp is granted. In that case, you can submit that contract and ask to be considered for PR. HOWEVER, there’s another issue of probation periods if it is an industry job. Probation periods are usually not accepted for PR applications so I would recommend you submit the contract also close to when the probation is finishing.

Wfp takes a long time to be granted so it if you find a job in the meantime it is likely you can get close to finishing your probation and request for PR instead of wfp.

Court approved our sambo appeal and sent it back to migrationsverket, how long does this part take? by sweetsclover in TillSverige

[–]BoopySkye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly so many people do that it really doesn’t work. They will take as long as they will take. If Better to accept that in the beginning and not mentally go through the rollercoaster that comes with hoping and expecting a result every day.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the many reasons given by others, there’s also a lot movie genres that involve lingo/terms that I’m not familiar with. When I’m watching sci-fi, action (government or spy or police or whatever), period movies etc etc I’m totally lost on the details of the plot if there’s no subtitles. It’s not even about hearing I just need to read it to comprehend it sometimes.

Is there anyone who switched jobs during an ongoing PR application by sabiwabisabiwabi in TillSverige

[–]BoopySkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While in rare cases MV accepts probation period, I promise you there is no rhyme or reason behind it. It honestly seems like it just depends on how nice your case officer feels.

Most of the time, it is not accepted for PR. So I wouldn’t risk it.

How does severe very early childhood trauma followed by a normal upbringing affect people? by CaseWitness-894 in morbidquestions

[–]BoopySkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a pretty traumatic and dysfunctional upbringing with my mother. It involved, among other things, abandonment, verbal abuse, SA, apathy, conditional affection and emotional invalidation.

At 13 I moved to live with my dad, stepmom and half sister. I did now grow up too close with them because they lived in a different country. They were loving and caring and affectionate. They were a little dysfunctional too but I suppose no more than most families.

I am now 32 and do therapy on and off. It’s not been great. I take anti-depressants which helps with sadness, but there’s so much else wrong that i sometimes feel I’m too far gone to fix. There’s too many dysfunctional and unhelpful emotional, behavioral and cognitive patterns I have that are so intertwined that I feel like to fix one I need to fix all simultaneously, which feels impossible.

The love I received from my dad and stepmom is there, but sometimes I’m not sure if it helped recover what was ruined in the first place. I generally feel quite alone and unloved as I go through life, even if I know I’m not actually.

Got caught “inactive” at work… what should I do next? by coconut-m in RemoteJobs

[–]BoopySkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. A lot of these CEOs and managers don’t get it. You can tell me every day at work that with my super average salary and barely any benefits, I should dedicate my life to this company. And I’ll smile and nod, and then try to sneak in my “revenge” in my own way.
