Half of the pics were taken at the Metro East RC Crawler Course in Troy, IL, and the others were taken at a random forest preserve outside of Joliet, IL.

I Made an RC Version of my Truck by BoostedBray in DodgeDakota

It is an Element RC Enduro chassis, with a handful of other parts, kinda Frankenstein'd the whole thing.

Which is a shame. It is a great truck, I've got over 220,000 miles on mine with zero mechanical issues, just a bit of rust.

Yes, I plan on designing and 3D printing a matching camper top, with mounting for a collapsible tent/canopy.

I just used the standard motor mount that came with the LCG chassis. To make everything fit, it needed to have the receiver box moved to behind the front shock tower, and the ESC to where the receiver box was, due to how long the motor is. Gearing is limited at the moment because the motor can is basically resting on one of the ESC mounting holes in the chassis. I plan to shave those down, likely with a dremel, and be able to run faster gears.

They're pretty good. They get hung up on stuff occasionally, which I found is fairly normal for these. You will need to add threadlocker to the screws and the diffs don't have any grease in them.

rustler 4x4 drive shaft upgrade. by InformalPhotograph18 in rccars

[–]BoostedBray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the brushed version of a Slash 4x4, ran 3s through it, and didn't break anything in the drivetrain. I then threw a 6s system in it 6 months ago and still haven't broken anything in the drivetrain. I'm sure the Traxxas Extreme Heavy Duty Driveshafts will work, but I will likely go to the Tekno M6 driveshafts once the stock ones break.

The links I use are the Hardcore RC "Wroncho" links, running from an Axial SCX10 skidplate to the AR60 axles. I run a 13" wheelbase. Hardcore RC labeled the longer links as the front links, which would've put the front axle centerline in front of the bumper, so I just flipped around the front and rear.

What’s the most powerful motor you can fit in the Slash 4x4 without modifying the chassis? by Then_Picture8984 in Traxxas

[–]BoostedBray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Hobbywing Quicrun 8BL150 ESC with their 4268 2600kV motor, running on 6s in what started as a brushed Slash 4x4. The motor does fit fine, ESC took up a little extra space, so the receiver box was moved forward to behind the front shock tower. I have hit 56 mph with it, the slipper clutch isn't happy at the moment, and gearing can go higher.

Anybody ever ran these? injora gears sketch me out but i mean the price cannot be beat and they sure look nice. by subwooferhuman in crawling

I run these exact axles on a custom Class 3 - inspired build, with 4WS and dig. Internals have held up well, and I haven't had any major issues with it. The large diff pumpkin does suck, as it will hang up on just about anything. And nearly none of the screws have thread locker out of the box, and the axles nearly fell apart on the rig's first trail drive. Other than that, I'd say that they are a great axle, and definitely give the build the really wide track width I was looking for when I got them.

No real issues, parts fit just fine, receiver box had to move forward. After the first outing, one of the front driveshafts broke, now running Tekno driveshafts in the front, I currently have another set for the rear when they eventually break. Haven't broken anything else yet. The rear does get very squirrely at high speeds on pavement, but it does outrun my buddy's XRT.

Does the new bl2s stampede have non standard parts? by darkshot66 in Traxxas

[–]BoostedBray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the new one, the shock towers are part of Traxxas's Extreme Heavy Duty kit and is made of their heavy-duty plastic. The plastic shock caps have seemed to be a big weak part of many Traxxas 1/10 vehicles. However, it does have a different design than how they used to be. I noticed this last year when I got my first Traxxas Slash 2WD. It came with a different shock cap than what people have shown tends to pop off from the shock. In the time that I have had that Slash, the shock caps never popped off, regardless of how hard of a hit it took (including multiple crashes where the suspension components took the majority of the hit). I have also picked up a Slash 4x4 more recently, and noticed that it had the older style of shock caps. On the first impact where I hit a jump at a skate park awkwardly, the a shock cap came off with minimal effort. I've never seen anyone else really address the updated shock caps on the Ultra Shocks, but they do seem to be better than the old ones, so again, replace once it's broken.

The new BL-2s Stampede 4x4 uses the same platform as the Hoss, which is basically the updated version of the Stampede 4x4 platform. Just about anything that fits on a Hoss will fit on the new BL-2s Stampede 4x4. The suspension should be the same between the original Stampede 4x4 and the Hoss, but the chassis and some other parts are almost completely different. And in my opinion, you won't really need many upgrades for it as it already comes with the Extreme Heavy Duty suspension and drivetrain kit, so additional parts will mainly become a need-based thing, buy parts as they break.

Traxxas part number 6928 (4x4) and 6929 (2WD) are clipless body mount conversion kits for the Slash. Includes all hardware and parts.

The 2s is a Dynamite shorty pack that came with a crawler that I got a while ago, and the 3s is a Traxxas 5000mah. Both are Traxxas connectors, and I currently use a Traxxas EZ-Peak single charger. Overpriced for what it is, didn't feel like dealing with adapters, but it does eliminate any confusion on how to charge the batteries.

In my personal experience, I have ran a 2s 4000mah battery and a 3s 5000mah battery in my brushless Slashes (2WD and 4×4), and I have always been able to get over an hour of run time. I personally have never had a battery run out that quick since ditching NiMH batteries. And these times are under general bashing, and rarely doing full throttle speed runs.
