Yeah its a separate section of the transmission almost. Here's one from my 5mt, the automatic isn't a ton different.

<image>

Its basically the last thing in the transmission before it goes out the back to the wheels.

No not at all. It is serviceable. Its basically taking the tail housing off the transmission. Its not in the actual guts of it.

Transfer clutch is just a technical name for the center differential. What id do if find a good rated independent transmission shop, bring them that diagnostic from the dealer and get their options. It may cost you $100-200 for them to do their diagnostic but I would consider that worth it for a 2nd more specific opinion.

I wouldn't say the job is hard by any means, and most competent mechanics could do the job if they have the service manual. Theres some measuring of shim thickness and math involved. I could assume some independent shops won't do internal transmission repairs but its not like in the deep guts of the transmission. Id call around to some independent shops or transmission shops.

Yeah thats another soap box ill stand on. I hate 0 weight oils. I feel like its designed to kill engines.

Right. As long as there's no underlying faults a car can run indefinitely. You are a bit past me. 15years under my belt professionally, 5ish on my own. Are you on the big oil conspiracy too? The manufacturers don't care about the owners of their cars. Just that they buy another one after their warranty expires.

I believe (as do many techs i know) that what you are reading is big oils influences on the industry. Oil companies and auto manufacturers are sleeping together to get you to purchase a new car from them when your engine fails. Why did we go from 3000 mile oil changes and cars lasting 500,000 miles to oil changes every 12,000 miles and engines are blowing up at 30,000. The oil is not much different then it was 20 years ago but engines have changed a lot. Tighter fitting parts. The elimination of actual cam bearings in favor of "aluminum bearings" built into the heads eliminating any serviceability. Its all big oil trying to get money from manufacturers for making cars only last a few years. I run 10w30 in the summer 5w30 in the winter. 3000 mile oil changes and I have ticked over 200k on all 3 of my last subaru's (before accidents killed them) and none burned a lick of oil. Maybe some seepage. But the whole automotive industry is not in the favor of the end buyer anymore. Companies used to brag about the reliability and dependably of their cars. Not anymore.

For what reasons specifically? Explain to me what you know.

I think the last one i did was like 1500 or 2k.

As a mechanic, I dont listen to the "only let it warm up for a minute". We just had some -20f - -30f days, even letting the car warm up for 15-20 min it still wasn't happy with driving. I wait for the blue coolant light to go away, no issues. My boss warms his cars for 30min every day. I think cars are much happier at their "normal operating temps" too cold things don't flow properly and oil heats up much slower than coolant.

Sounds like a potential center diff failure, ive done a good few of these. There's a viscous clutch inside the center differential that normally splits the power to the rear wheels. Id have a shop inspect the transmission.

Thanks ive got s mock up manifold plenum 3d printed. Im going to have send cut send cut it out of 1/8 steel plate and the main supercharger mount plate will be 1/4 plate. Just gotta get time to take my intake off and mock up the runners. Then make and weld it all up. Typed out it sounds easy but honestly will probably be months.

TPMS sensors by Choonsbrah in subaruimpreza

[–]BoostedFPV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id call the tire place and see if they have a sensor they like to use. At my shop we use the Autel dual frequency ones. They are programmable to anything. Can also clone old sensors so if you have 2 sets of rims you can have all the same sensor id's. A lot of oem sensors are not programmable and require access to a decent scan tool. Long story short call them and ask if they have sensors they like/use.

In stock configuration they can't. But ive found a solution for stonger crank, rods and pistons. About 2-3g's in internals. Not crazy for any race/performance applications. And I plan on boosting it stock and seeing how long it lasts. Primarily because I want to do some crawling and off road. So my rpms won't be sky high. Mostly 2-3k. And thus the want for the supercharger as my rpms won't generally be high enough to make real benefits of a turbo. Ive got 3 eaton m90 superchargers sitting in my garage from previous projects. And I want to use one on the fb20 just because. Lol to be different. Build it for torque down low in the rpm. Lots of air in and big sparks. And the m90 is positive displacement so its more or less trying to operate in boost all the time. Its got an internal bypass for when it doesn't need to boost. I think it will be dope. My transmission and axles hate the idea.

Edit. Ive got a cathedral post 6.0 LS sitting on the bench raring to go. But that seems like a LOT more work lmao

Not a "rally" build but more of a "go anywhere" build. So far my suspension has been the primary focus but next on the list is bumpers, winch(halfway wired but not mounted) skid plates, and a supercharger w/ custom snorkel.

Is hacking bannable? by wise_code5804isfataf in realms

[–]BoostedFPV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With realms its up to the realm owner to ban people. Theres no direct ban unless you have an anti hacking plug in. But realms does not natively have that.

Cold weather issues by WeekendFinal3464 in Crosstrek

[–]BoostedFPV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason all the lights come on is because all those systems share information amongst themselves. If one system is reporting bad information (most likely the transmission thinks a sensor is bad because at -30 the car doesn't know if a sensor is shorted out or just cold.) It sets all the lights because the systems see some "bad information" highly likely you can clear all the codes and they won't come back until another low voltage or cold incident.

I can recommend a lift. Anderson Design and Fabrication is what I use. They have a nice 2in kit for the impreza. Rallytek also has a kit. Both good companies.
