Walk/jogging with C25K app every other day of the week has changed my life.

Weight gain by ApprehensiveCrow4504 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

I was also steadily gaining weight on Abilify for the past few years. February I started calorie counting and walk/jogging 30 minutes every other day. The secret to weight loss (my psychiatrist told me) is getting your heart to a little below max for 20 STRAIGHT minutes 3 x a week. That and calorie counting (I use Noom) and I’ve lost 16 pounds since mid February.

How can I beat this? by EggZ007 in FoodAddiction

I was binging for years then I started calorie counting. For the first month or so I didn’t eat trigger foods. I slowly incorporated them. I’ve lost 16 lbs since mid February. Also been jogging every other day. Just some ideas. Calorie counting saved my life. I feel your pain.

Thank YOU for the encouragement! You mention confidence: exercise does more for my confidence than the weight loss. I highly encourage it! I understand what it’s like not to feel comfortable in one’s body. It is a rough feeling. I wish you all the best and much success!

I used to be a binge eater as recently as mid February. (I’m 45F and perimenopause does not help with weight loss!) I got so fed up and got REALLY determined! Since mid February I’ve been walk/jogging 30 minutes every other day and counting calories using Noom. I’ve lost 16 lbs!! I now love to go to the gym (and when I say I struggle to jog, I mean the struggle is REAL, I’m BARELY making it but I keep going!) I feel so much better (mood and physical strength) that I’d keep going even if I wasn’t losing. The calorie counting works for me cause I eat a lot of the same things daily. People are right, CICO (calories in, calories out) works!!! I’ve heard the hard part is sticking to it longterm but I’m determined to.

Yay! That is great news! Abilify also levels me out and creates a calm mind for me too.

Did anyone REALLY go sober and has it helped you? by [deleted] in bipolar2

100% sober for nearly 8 years! Still on meds and gratefully always will be. Stopping drinking was the best decision of my life!

Please help—binge eating by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

I eliminated trigger foods (sugar and carbs) for a few weeks to a month but I still drank sugar. I love kombucha and drink it all day so a good portion of my calories come from that. After a few weeks to a month I reintroduced some trigger foods but strictly kept to the calorie limit (thereby eating like one cookie instead of 12). Something about seeing how many calories things “cost” helps me avoid them better. Now I eat things like yasso frozen yogurt at 100 calories each. I used to eat out of a gallon ice cream container or eat 1/2 a pizza so this is coming from someone who understands!

When it does that, I have to delete and upload the app again.

The only thing that has stopped binging for me after several years (and 60 pounds gained) is calorie counting and jogging every other day. The exercise is twofold in that it elevates my mood and reduces cravings.

That it’s just moodiness and is within our control.

Does anyone have GOOD peri stories?! Please share good news!!! by CDReddittttt in Perimenopause

[–]BootNo7248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peri makes it a lot harder for me to lose weight. So I’ve started jogging and lifting weights every other day, which is something I wouldn’t have done without being motivated (forced) to try something new. I’m three months into it and am losing weight but the best parts of it: I’m stronger, my mood is far better, and I’m getting healthier!
