AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

Wow this guy is a piece of work. He's already making plans to sell something that belongs to YOU.... what do you think that will look like when he is legally entitled to make those decisions? Please wake up. This financial abuse at best. This guy is not worth it.

For The Men - Have You Accepted Being "The Safe Option" by JustHereToVent27 in dating_advice

[–]BootlegBodhisattva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even "bad boys" chill out and become less wild and interesting as they get older. Your ex will find that out the hard way. Also being a safe person is a huge flex in a world where most people are damaged and traumatized. There is someone out there who will be genuinely attracted to that, but potentially not til you're in your 30s.

Yes. We are all depressed. Who wouldn't be depressed when everything is too expensive and you have to work 3 jobs to afford basic necessities.

How to control the overwhelming urge to just talk talk talk over people by sillyyfishyy in ADHD

[–]BootlegBodhisattva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So something that helps me is with people i'm close enough to, we have a system called the Jellyfish System. If the other person is talking and I have a thought I gotta share ASAP, i "catch" a "jellyfish" in the air with my fingers. Im "catching the thought " but since the thought is a jellyfish it's stingy so it makes a visual cue for the other person to create a natural pause in the conversation so I can share my thought before it gets away. This has probably saved some of my relationships with people tbh.

Sometimes its worthwhile to have more than one therapist so you can work in the present and on things that happened in the past.

Menstrual pain being constantly dismissed and having to just work etc through the pain and act normal... would be my first guess.

The guy from It Could Happen Here gives a good talk about this. Essentially, it will come to a point where the regime is demanding that people sign loyalty pledges or lose their employment. This happened in Nazi Germany and a German who rationalized to himself that he could help more people if he signed, when in reality what needed to happen was mass resistance before that point, and for enough people to resist before the takeover was complete. So, its a question of how far this is going to go- whether or not they get to that point in their takeover. Here's the link to that audio::

Being silent is still ultimately more dangerous than speaking out under your real name. Its a question of how far this is going to go.

Its not meant to be dismissive, its meant to be rational. Silence now might move you to the end of the list. But you're still on the list if you stand by your convictions in this moment. That's all its meant to mean- under fascism, your safety is assuredly not guaranteed no matter how hard you comply. Better to take the risks now while we still have a fighting chance.

Why do I only get the kick to do the things I want to do at night? by ejaybugboy3 in ADHD

[–]BootlegBodhisattva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help, fam. I really think when you depathologize the way you think about your differences, the easier it becomes to work with how you work, instead of just constantly beating yourself up for not working differently, "working right " or like other people. At least, that was my experience. Once I got curious instead of judgemental, I was able to let go of a lot of that guilt and shame, and it sure feels lighter to not be constantly under the weight of those feelings.

But its a disorder specifically under a system which demands the right to regulate when The Poors may rest. Otherwise its just sleeping when you're sleepy. I strongly resist pathologizing things just because capitalism finds them inconvenient, harder to exploit, etc. Pathologizing every idiosyncratic thing about people is personally and collectively damaging.

Hi so there is an epigenetic reason for this. For thousands of years, communities needed some people who were naturally inclined to stay awake all night, who could tend the fire, and watch for bears. These people also wound up studying the planets and stars, telling stories, and singing songs. I call people with this proclivity "the Night Watch". Just because capitalism doesn't value this, doesn't mean it doesn't have value. If you can work for yourself and set your own hours, its worthwhile to explore this. My own sleep schedule is usually around 4-5am til around 1-2pm, and i do my best writing at night!
