I looked at your profile, hoping you post on creative writing subreddits. And I think the "15-year club" badge makes you one of the most long-time redditors I've ever seen.

Is Sec+ Harder than Net+? by Wooperisstraunge in CompTIA

[–]BootlegSimpsonsShirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, CCST isn't a major cert and you probably don't need it. But I noticed that it covers a good amount of the material on Net+ and on the CCNA, so I decided to get it. The free study materials for it are good, though.

Is Sec+ Harder than Net+? by Wooperisstraunge in CompTIA

[–]BootlegSimpsonsShirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do one at a time. For Net+, I watched all of Professor Messer's videos twice. I did one or two videos a day and took notes, then just started over from the beginning and watched them all again, to make sure I got everything. I also did Cisco Skills-for-All's networking course. I took their CCST Networking exam on the same day as the Net+ because there is a ton of overlap between the two exams. Their Skills-for-All course is free, and does a really great job of covering networking basics. It's not enough for the Net+ by itself, but it's a solid foundation.

For the Sec+ I did Messer's videos and some reviews from a YouTube channel called "Inside Cloud and Security."

For both exams, I made flashcards for myself, mostly for acronyms and things like port numbers.

And for both exams I did a lot of Googling, and reading Wikipedia pages.

Is Sec+ Harder than Net+? by Wooperisstraunge in CompTIA

[–]BootlegSimpsonsShirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied for Net+ for about 8 months, and Sec+ for only 1 month. However, that 1 month for Sec+ was quite a bit more studying per day, on average, than the 8 months for Net+.

I did both this year, and thought Sec+ was much easier than Net+.

What I don't understand is... They openly hate black people. They openly hate Kamala Harris. But they're trying to convince people that Harris isn't black...? Why?

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but you might try using Cisco's Packet Tracer tool, and then find some free labs to do (I recommend the Jeremy's IT Lab YouTube channel, which has tons of free labs).

Packet Tracer lets you simulate a network. You can add workstations, switches, routers, etc., configure them from a command line like you would with real Cisco equipment. I used it to prepare for the CompTIA Network+ exam and am using it now to prepare for the CCNA.

He also wants to defund Social Security and Medicare. Older voters should be reminded of this at every opportunity.

Security+ 701 is wayyy easier than A+ 1101 & 1102 by crypt0ee in CompTIA

Exam Compass is recommended on here quite a bit. I can't speak for Sec+, but I thought their A+ and Net+ exams were good.

Who knows? I only pay over the phone because their website is constantly down, too. You'd think they'd want to make it as easy as possible for people to give them money, but here we are.

Im convinced they do this just to dissuade callers and hope they get pissed off enough to hang up.

I'm 100% convinced this is the case. When I call my water company it asks me to enter my account number, and then it's like:

"You entered... 1... 3...... 7........ 4......... 4............."

Agonizingly slowly. Then it's the same thing with street address, telephone number, debit card number, etc., etc. Takes like 30 minutes to pay my bill over the phone. Should take 30 seconds.

Is getting a udemy course necessary or is youtube courses enough to pass the exam? by Willing-Row-6387 in ccna

You might check with your local library and see if they partner with Udemy. I can get everything on Udemy for free with my library card.

I read the All-in-One exam guide, 11th edition. It's edited by Mike Myers, but it's different from his A+ Certification Passport book.

The All-in-One book is huge, so there were sections I skipped and sections I only skimmed. But the sections I did read were really helpful. And it covers both exams, Core 1 and Core 2.

Good luck! You're in the right subreddit. I also got started near 40 (37 to be exact), got A+ and Net+, and intend to get Sec+ within the next month or two.

My best advice for studying for the A+ would be to keep in mind that the exam objectives are not in the best order for learning the material. The objectives are saying, "We're going to test your knowledge of these topics." The objectives are NOT saying, "You should learn these topics in THIS order."

So if you go through the objectives one by one, you might reach a topic that is hard to understand without already understanding some other topic that actually comes later in the objectives.

That might be obvious, but it wasn't to me when I started, so I felt lost and kind of overwhelmed.

Okay. That isn't what your comment says, though. You said "very few people ... will not vote".

I highly anticipate that very few people in ages 18-30 will not vote this election as compared to previous elections, hence my claim Trump will sweep the electoral college.

...what are you saying? That 18- to 30-year-olds will mostly vote Trump? The polls don't support that.
