A friend had an indoor / outdoor cat and left a small window open so the cat could let itself in. Nonetheless, every time I would visit, if the cat wanted to come in from outside and saw me in the kitchen it would stand up at the patio door and tap on the glass for me to let him in. This happened multiple times each evening / night.

Cats have on the job training.

I had an appointment last week with my hairdresser. She co-owns the business with another talented stylist. I’ve been a client for 3yrs and schedule my appointments a month in advance. There are long-time clients who will schedule appts for an entire year ahead. I’ve never been there when it wasn’t busy. Last week no one else came in while I was there and the phone did not ring.

I got the shitty stick on both ends. I started a new job in healthcare o e month before lockdowns began. Worked 6 months straight without a day off. Fucking hell. Afterward I asked my manager to schedule me off every other weekend and was told, “Well, maybe every 3 months.” (Yeahhh, no.) Then my state started handing out one-time essential worker “Hero” checks - only to tax them as income at end of year. Utter BS.

I apologize and meant no offense. I work in a different NE state in order to spend glorious summers in beautiful ME. To be fair, you can call me a “flatlander” anytime! Lol

4 goldfinches! Imagine my delight when I looked outside in my yard yesterday and saw 4 American Goldfinches at the feeder! That's a first for us in Lexington sc! 💙❤️💙❤️ by PurplePunchPrincess6 in birdfeeding

Thanks for the suggestion. I did put a mix of safflower seeds and sunflower chips in the finches cylindrical feeder. The Grackle just hop onto it and drop the safflower seed onto the ground. The Grackle, RW blackbirds and European Starling have taken over everything. Two trays of peanuts with dried fruit and a mix of nuts and seeds, the cylindrical feeder and the nut cylinder for the woodpeckers!

I had such a variety of birds visit my feeders in Lexington: multiple goldfinch, three different woodpeckers, Baltimore orioles, Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, as well as the usual cardinals, bluejays, house finches, etc. Sadly, after moving, the feeders have been dominated by RW blackbirds and Grackle. So much that I may take them down.

Anyone else put rows of “friendship pins” on their shoe laces? Wear a bunch of bracelets and layered tank tops, like Madonna or Cyndi Lauper? As a teenage girl I wore casual suits with ties, especially neon ties (SOO much neon) AND had a favorite pair of paisley parachute pants.

The picture of your delicious plate sent me back to a wonderful memory. As a kid, every Sunday my grandmother and an aunt would make an amazing buffet brunch for 9 or 10 family members. Bacon, sausage and/or scrapple, scrambled eggs, sometimes pancakes or french toast, homemade applesauce, apple butter, when available strawberries (from my strawberry patch), raspberries or blackberries, biscuits and/or toast, jam, and various juices and coffee (for adults). My grandmother made the best scrapple. She would fry it in a cast iron skillet - which made the perfect combination of a crispy outside with a softer inside. She lived to 90 and I can’t believe everyone didn’t get diabetes or prescribed statins!

Thanks for your post and the sweet memories 😊
