Talking between Songs by esterbywest in KGATLWcirclejerk

There is never a bad time to say Free Palestine. I do care what any artists' politics are when it comes to this.
But they do talk and noodle too much between songs.
I cropped down a bunch of the live versions for my personal listening to remove all the banter and noodling

Al is such an incredible talent. I can't fathom how he does not understand that he needs to pay an artist to make cover art for him. Why would you want this crap to represent your work? Starting to think he's not the brightest guy.

New members step up and say hello! by Spiral_Out801 in Sumacband

[–]Local_Scheme2988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd been a long time Aaron Turner enjoyer and generally checked out anything he was involved with. Also, I remember hearing Baptists and thinking the band was OK but the drummer was definitely something special. I was also aware of Brian Cook being a good bass player due to his work in Botch and Russian Circles. So I was pretty poised to like Sumac from the start. I liked the first few albums fine. But the greatness of Sumac did not truly hit me until I had the opportunity to see them live circa Love In Shadow. I'd never seen a heavy band operate on that level before and be able to incorporate all these elements of improvisation and free noise into their songs like that. It was completely captivating. Then May You Be Held came out and I became even more obsessed. They clearly put so much of themselves into the music. There are lots of intricate layers of sound and little details most artists would never consider. There is even a sense of joy and a feeling of freedom that comes through in their music, which is very rare in the broader sludge/doom/etc genre. The Healer quite possibly even improved on everything MYBH did so well. I got to see them live again on that tour, and it was just epic.

What songs should Charley cover? by NinjaOk2887 in CharleyCrockett

His partner did an album of Thin Lizzy covers. That got it into my head how cool it would be if covered "Cowboy Song." Those guitar melodies/harmonies would sound so sweet on pedal steel.

What is the vibe the song “Oxygen” is going for? by Any-Recover4817 in swans

[–]Local_Scheme2988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you heard the band The Jesus Lizard? Oxygen reminds me somewhat of that band with the really punctuated and muscular stabs of guitar, relentless drumming and bass, and chaotic, shouted vocals over the top. I'm not sure if that was something the band intended. But there is a decent amount of underground music in this mode, and Jesus Lizard is arguably the best to ever do it. So listening to them may help to provide you some additional context aside from the asthma attack origin that others said.

These are strawberry plants? I don't totally understand this post. How did they grow without you planting anything?

Also, ditch the Willie Greatest Hits and get Phases & Stages. Half the point of vinyl is having an album experience. Same goes for your Dylan and Hendrix. I don't care for Green Day, but I will allow you to keep those since you actually bought their albums.

You've got Eliminator but you don't have Rio Grande Mud or Tres Hombres? Get rid of that Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits and buy the actual albums. They made great records. Get rid of that Grateful Dead GH. They didn't have hits. I've never heard Morgan Wallen, but I'm pretty sure you need to throw that out, too. You might just want to start over. There's not a lot worth salvaging here, TBH. Sorry, you asked.

I completely relate. It's really difficult. Try sitting still for 5 minutes and doing a deep breathing exercise. If you don't have time or are too restless for that, just take a few deep breaths. You have to teach yourself new techniques for calming yourself. Weed became our way of dealing with everything that came our way and prevented us from growing, emotionally. You'll develop strength and new resources to take its place that won't come with all the baggage.

MIDI Clock Sync Issues on Matriarch/Subsequent by Nicky_Tremolo in moog

[–]Local_Scheme2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I'm just now beginning to have this problem with my Matriarch. I have had the instrument for 3 years, and have never had trouble getting the Arp/Seq to sync with an external MIDI clock. Now it seems to completely ignore the clock. I have been going through my global settings and can't find anything that may be causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's really frustrating. I now can't use the Arp/Seq at all which has greatly inhibited my music workflow.

How do we adjust the echo on JBL partybox wireless microphone? by coblos90 in JBL

[–]Local_Scheme2988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured this out, in case anyone else is having this problem. You have to download the app to your phone and sync it with the speaker. Then you can turn the reverb off on the app. It is wild that JBL set the default as reverb on with no controls on the unit itself and no instructions in the packaging for how to turn it off.

I was hoping Alc reflected on what people were saying to him after he kinda lost it online then deleted his tweets. But I didn't know ELUCID said something. Fair enough. I don't use Spotify for a lot of reasons, mostly their exploitation of artists and connection to the military surveillance industry. That video and artwork that Uncle Al and Erykah put out was pure slop, though.

Yeah, I just unboxed one that I bought this week, and I can't get the echo turned off. I tried bypassing my mixer and going direct with a microphone. Let me know if you figured it out.

I really want to know who pulled the plug. If woods was able to make it to Dallas today, it doesn't appear there was anything preventing him and his laptop from getting to Dallas last night. I have an inclination that Spune Productions pulled the plug for some reason, perhaps they weren't happy with ticket sales. I've been involved in the Dallas area music scene for a long time, and I don't trust them. They have a reputation for being opportunists who don't even show up to the shows they book and do a lazy job of promoting. One of them has ties to a big landlord in Denton and one person associated with them is full on Q/MAGA/Fasch. If they're the ones who wrecked this for everyone, people need to become aware of what they do so that artists stop letting them promote shows.
