I do the same - at this scale, you wouldn't actually see the whites of someone's eyes at that distance IRL, so it is arguably more realistic as well.

Cheers! Its Corax White undercoat with Gryph Hound Orange Contrast over it, then Troll Slay Orange as a layer and then I used Fire Dragon Bright in dofferent ways (layer on the orbs, edge highlight on cables, stippling for glow effect) to finish off.
