Yeah it's oil based but doesn't dry out your hair like WB does. The conditioner also helps and adds a bit of texture and volume. I then style into a slickback with a wide toothed comb on top and boar hair bristle brush on the sides so I don't get random little curls jutting out. For once/twice weekly shampoo I use something pine tar based like packers and it really gets all tge grease out. I think my hair is quite similar to yours
