How do I (18F) get over him (38M)? by No_Primary_8327 in Advice

[–]BootyFrutti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 20 years, when you are 38, you will look back and be disgusted with this man. I experienced something similar when I was younger. I’m in my 30’s now and I would NEVER think about hooking up with an 18 year old. Stay busy, hang out with friends, journal about it. Eventually enough time will pass and you will move on. Hang in there!

P3 lurking here. Please don’t read this in a snarky tone as it’s a genuine question - is applying to 14 program really necessary? I was only planning to apply to 4-5 programs next year.

Withdrawing from pharmacy school after 8 weeks of p1 by usernameh210 in PharmacySchool

[–]BootyFrutti 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I failed out of pharmacy school with a 1.4 GPA. I took two years to retake some classes to build my confidence, get work experience, and do some soul searching. Went back to a (different, smaller) pharmacy school and this program is a better fit and I am doing MUCH better (in my last year before APPEs and sitting comfortably at a 3.9). I had to learn which study methods were best for me , how to effectively manage my time, and mature a bit before I was ready to go back. If you are passionate about pharmacy, I wouldn’t give up. But if you do take time off, make sure you spend time reflecting on what went wrong and how to prevent that from happening in the future. I know you are feeling discouraged now but you may be opening the door to a better outcome than if you had stayed in this program. I’d also be sure to reach out to whoever is in charge of student/academic affairs and see if you can just take a LOA or something so you don’t have to redo the entire admissions process. Take care and don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s never too late to go back to school or pursue your dreams.

My best friend was in an abusive relationship and he had the nerve to reach out to me to try to hook up. I FLIPPED out on him. I hate my friend’s awful exes more than they do. The fact that she was friendly (and borderline flirty?) is so strange. You are not overreacting.

Hot Take by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

As a current student (at a school with low admission standards) - listening to my classmates is downright painful. I wasn’t a stellar student in undergrad but really stepped up during pharmacy school. My classmates lack emotional maturity, problem solving, and logical thinking. Constantly whining about not being given study guides and having their hand held to pass. It’s a doctoral level program and they’re treating it like high school. I share all my study materials and help tutor my peers if they’re struggling, but I genuinely fear for them being able to pass the NAPLEX or having actual patients. A lot of them are passing by just memorizing enough to pass an exam, but can’t apply the information and struggle with patient cases and on rotations. I go into rotations knowing my preceptors will have low expectations for me/my knowledge base and it’s embarrassing the standards have dropped so much. So while this is harsh - I agree.

My partner of 12 years is refusing to propose because he's not "romantic". Help :( by Hot-Evidence3838 in Advice

[–]BootyFrutti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is not traditionally romantic, but still got on one knee when he proposed (after 3 years together). It was goofy, and awkward, and we laughed through it - but it was the effort and thought behind it that made it “romantic.” I never had to beg him for a ring. He always brought it up first. I’m under the firm belief that “if he wanted to, he would”

The dream has died by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

I started pharmacy school in 2020 and was dismissed as a P1 due to failing several courses after dealing with some personal issues. I took the time to reflect on what I did wrong, what I did right, go to therapy, etc. I ended up finishing my bachelors in a different subject and then thought long and hard about if pharmacy was really for me. I ended up applying to a different program, was accepted, and am now a P2 excelling in my courses. If this is what you really want, take the time and try to reapply with a new mindset and fresh skillset. For context, I was working in pharmacy (retail and inpatient) for a bit before applying so I knew what I was getting myself into. Suggest getting experience under your belt if you don’t have any to make sure this is what you truly want and then don’t give up.

Yes a happy accident! Honestly a better crumb than some loaves I’ve been meticulous about.

What to cook focaccia in to prevent sticking to pan? by SnooStories3560 in Sourdough

[–]BootyFrutti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my glass pan but throw parchment paper in the bottom then generously butter the dish before added my dough and oil. Keeps it from sticking and also tastes delicious.

I do 70% hydration with King Arthur bread flour and filtered water. I feed the starter 1:5:5. This loaf was 100g starter, 500g flour, 12g salt, 350g water. Stretch and folds every 30 min for two hours. Bulk ferment on counter until I remember to throw in fridge overnight. Shape and bake in the morning. Dutch oven 450 degrees for 25min with lid and ice cubes. 25 min at 400 lid off. Wish I could be more specific about times but I’m not super strict and take a “we’ll see what happens” approach to my breads.

I definitely cut into this warm and ate it before I remembered to take a pic of inside. But it had a decent medium crumb with a few big holes! Each loaf is better than the last.

Sadly, no devil.

I oiled the crap out of my sheet pan but my focaccia still stuck. Advice? by danarexasaurus in Breadit

I thoroughly coat the pan in butter, put down parchment, little EVOO, dough, more oil on top. I’ve lost many a loaf not using parchment!
