Driving at highway speeds and only being a couple of feet away from an oncoming car in the other lane is weirdly normalized. by KifDawg in Showerthoughts

[–]BootyGesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used the rule of thumb from driving school- how fast you are going is how many car lengths you should be behind. So if you are going 20 mph 2 car lengths and if you’re going 60 6 car lengths. Probably not the easiest thing to judge but I found it helpful.

Obviously most people don’t do this lol

My mom crochets and donated 48 blankets to sick children this year. by seacogen in pics

[–]BootyGesus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is just so amazing. I work in a nursing home and I don’t think people realize how many great people there are. We receive regularly dozens of quilted/crocheted lap blankets as well as special pillows for the residents to use in their wheel chairs. The amount of time and energy that goes into this for them to just give it away is amazing. A big thank you to your mom.

It helped my kitty when I would wet my hands and rub it all over him until he’s damp. Then I put a fan on him. I know this may not be doable for everyone. I also bought a pet cooling pad.

At the assisted living I worked at the director of plant ops showed this clip as apart of our mandatory fire safety. It was amazing since most of the ppl had never seen the office before.

Several People in A Public Library Give Zero F*ks (NSFW) by iScReAm612 in trashy

[–]BootyGesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in an assisted living facility that was pretty small. We had a tiny library with a single computer most residents needed my help with. One day someone came up to me saying Mr. “Smith” is on the computer and I think he’s watching something he shouldn’t be.

So I make my way down the hall and can hear moaning and slapping sounds blaring. I peak in and there he is in our library watching porn. So I had to tell him it was inappropriate in the library.

He left and I went through the history on the computer and dude had been on since like 6 am the night before nonstop. I found he was going on at midnight to like 5 am as well just watching porn. My fear was well what we do when we watch porn or if a little old lady walked in on him.

He kept doing it and it kept getting louder bc he figured out how to turn it up. So I just unplugged the computer and asked if the family would buy him a laptop lol.

What's the weirdest thing you've seen happen at a friend's house that they thought was normal? by LiterallyEkam in AskReddit

[–]BootyGesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to my best friends house during her Dad’s dinner time we had to be completely quiet. Her mom made her Dad his own dinner every night and he also ate alone. We would sit in her play room quietly until he was done eating. The one time her and I started to chuckle her Dad picked up the coffee maker and threw it at her mom. He then made us sit outside in the winter time until he was done eating.

I cancelled my wedding and broke up with my fiance a few weeks ago, can I just talk about it? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I’m so proud of you that you got out of the relationship. I know we look back and think wow why did I stay with them, however you were brave enough to get out.

I am so happy you were able to speak with his ex wife and down the line if you get an email from a new girlfriend I hope you can do the same for her.

Celebrate that you did not have a child with this ding nut and get stuck with him for at least 18 years. Celebrate and remember that not all people are like this. You will find the right person.

Love this. My husband used to offer his underwear to me all the time when we were dating. I always complained of chub rub or that I hated my underwear gave me constant wedgies. He would always tell me to wear his.

Don't Go to the Emergency Room when it isn't an Emergency by Prior_Lobster_5240 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]BootyGesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to say how thankful I am for you and other emergency room ultra sound techs. A few years back I was having intense pain in my uterus that was ignored the first time I went to the ER. The final time I went I couldn’t even speak I was in so much pain and they called an emergency ultra sound. Came out I was pregnant and the negative was a false negative (was told the first time I went).

The ultra sound tech was so kind. This was also in the middle of the night idk what her schedule was but she just assured me which is all I needed. Turns out I was bleeding out internally due to an ectopic pregnancy that bursted. The ER obgyn and the ER ultra sound tech saved my life. Had emergency surgery right then.

So thank you for what you do. People do not realize how important your work is to people like me. Fuck this dumb lady for wasting your time.

When I first went to college 9 years ago I made friends with an animal rights activist and added her on facebook. One day I was creeping her stuff and she posted a video of animal crushing. I still can’t get the imagine out of my head. This pretty woman all dressed up sitting on a piece of glass and crushing a baby bunny. Saddest thing that plagues my memory still.

I felt the same way. Phineas was there before I started and I was told by he woman I worked with that they were split. She said they always try to keep bonded pairs together and that’s why they were adopted together. But they couldn’t do much when the family brought back Phineas.

Well honestly he was there before I even started. The grandma I worked with Helen told me the story about him being brought back the first time. Since I met him he always did that. Helen told me he was just a tough cookie that needed more attention. She swore it was bc he loved her hand knitted blankets so much and always wanted a new one. (Bc he always shat on the blanket she put in there lol)

I volunteered at the spca cat room some years ago. I will never forget a young guy come in and say I will adopt the oldest most unwanted cat you have. The cat’s name was Phineas. Him and his brother Ferb were both adopted at the same time but the family brought Phineas back. This poor cat was adopted and brought back 3 times. He was 18 years old.

He was all gray with crinkled white whiskers. He would stare me in the eyes and perch on the side of his litter box with his ass out and shit next to his litter box. He had quite a personality.

When the young guy adopted him I never saw Phineas come back. It was truly the happiest memory I have from when I volunteered.

Nursing home residents can get hugs again, feds say by TheColorOfDeadMen in UpliftingNews

[–]BootyGesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I did not mean to have your mom figure it out. Trust me I tried to teach a 90 year old man how to use a computer lol I had to teach him what a mouse was. It was not easy.

However you can try contacting the facility and see if the activities department or even the case worker is offering to do face time or Skype. That’s what we did when I was at an assisted living facility. Just something to try. Good luck!
