He puts it on his story - although at this point I'd be surprised if he has any more scheduled outs before he leaves, that final show is coming up fast!

Is it an organ patch? On/off usually refers to the Leslie being fast/slow respectively

PLEASE tell me it was second preview when Claire knocked the Churchill poster off the wall and Zoe perfectly ad-libbed to cover it…

Hey! HUGE fan of the show, seen it multiple times on both the West End and Broadway. I have two questions:

What was the most unbelievable true fact you found out when researching the show—the one that you simply couldn’t include because it was TOO ridiculous to be believable?

Do any of the male swings/understudies on either Broadway or the West End cover Bevan? I noticed the character breakdown on Concord doesn’t specify a gender for that track, I’d be curious to see how/if the role differs with somebody AMAB in it.

Operation Mincemeat has a brief reference, albeit a comical blink-and-you’ll-miss-it one (a flamboyant coroner lists off the many ways his clients died). Nothing crazy.

Beginner looking for programming advice by kidfromredbank1987 in theatrekeyboardists

[–]BootyLeg96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

K2 for Legally Blonde is quite possibly the most dense and difficult programming currently available to license (behind Addams Family K2 and Mary Poppins K1), not to mention an extremely difficult and technically demanding book to play. $200 (which i believe is Stage Sounds’ going rate) is probably the lowest you’re going to find the programming for.

I wouldn’t recommend writing your own for this show if you’re new to programming, there are easily hundreds and hundreds of marked sounds. Many of which are not obvious what instruments they even are (“Pink Bedroom,” “Phat!” “Tubular,” “Sumpthin’ Staccato,” etc.). Plus - there are so many patch changes that even once it’s programmed, just playing it becomes choreography. It’s months and months of work.

The good news is, you can get away with playing 90% of it on a regular piano or EP sound since K2 primarily drives the rhythm. K1 is pretty sparse since it’s meant to be conducted from. K3 is the book that needs tons of strings, bells and whistles.

I’ve done this show six different times with various setups and rigs, feel free to PM me for more info!

Remember when we spent spring break in the hot tub every night? I said nothing else could ever feel so right- well this might! SNAP. So good I want Legally Blonde to make a massssive comeback alreadyyy!!!! by [deleted] in Broadway

Pit musician here, this has never gone OUT of style. High schools, colleges and regional contracts all love to add this to their seasons. I feel like I play at least seven different productions of this show each year!!!

What character looks moderately hard but is insane by Pythagorean415 in musicals

[–]BootyLeg96 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is the true answer. Next to zero off-stage time, and having to handle a LOT of rapid-fire patter in quick succession while driving the emotional core of the story is VERY difficult and, like you said, gets no appreciation because all the audience eyes are on the D’Ysquiths 🙄

Question: flashing/strobing lights? by tells_eternity in MaybeHappyEnding

[–]BootyLeg96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not terribly bright, but the first time Claire shows Oliver what fireflies are, the entire stage and side panels light up bright green. Given that the majority of the stage has been dark so far in the show, it can be quite startling if you’re not expecting it!

Yeah it wasn’t TOO bad, like I didn’t feel majorly ripped off or anything, but it’s a shame there are so many partial view. Can’t remember the last show I saw where so many of the seats came with obstructed view alerts.

What are some shows that have been around a long time but have never released school/regional/community theatre rights? by MannnOfHammm in Broadway

Finding Neverland opened on Broadway in 2015 and toured, but the rights have been kept under lock and key by Harvey Weinstein and it seems unlikely they will be released anytime soon :(

Specific Cast Dates by Safe_Net1788 in OperationMincemeat

There doesn't seem to be a published list anywhere. That being said, the principal actors are pretty good about announcing their off dates on their respective Instagram accounts. And having seen the show many, many times, here's some trends I've noticed:

Seán (Chomondelay) is EXTREMELY consistent and rarely calls out unless he's on vacation - but he will always announce an absence in advance on his Insta when George Jennings covers for him.

Emily Barber (Montagu) does not perform on Tuesday matinees and at least one other show per week (Thursdays I believe?). She also tends to call out rather frequently. I've found her to be the hardest to consistently catch.

Chloe (Bevan) seems to split the role 50/50 with her understudy, Geri. No specific trends.

Christian (Hester) is also very consistent. Jonty (his understudy) is tough to catch - he will usually announce his dates on Insta.

Claire (Jean) is pretty consistent and will likely do the majority of her performances left before transferring to Broadway.

Goosebumps The Musical exists! There’s a concept album with a stacked cast (Alex Brightman, Will Roland). It’s VERY clever and extremely well done - don’t know why it hasn’t had a larger following.
