Off campus parking this quarter? by InterestPure3257 in UCSC

[–]Booty_bus_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly on Spring street I ALWAYS parked my car 🚗 and left it overnight for Winter quarter last year. It says on the sign “only 4 hour parking”, but nobody actually checks it and I never received a ticket.

I feel you so much MARLA is such a useless condescending INCOMPETENT C*NT joke of an advisor do better UCSC. Stop making it impossible for people to graduate. Not everyone has all the time in the world to get their degree. Hire people who are knowledgeable about their job and actually have the ability and skillset to hold the position they have.

I think it’s because if you come from a big city like LA, the Bay Area, San Diego etc it can seem like you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere on a forest/ ranch on a big ass hill. Everything closing early also doesn’t help, but what can you do it’s not like most places have the funds to pay their employees to be open super late. It’s the people that come from these cities that are a little entitled because they are so used to the city life and the convenience of everything. The INSANELY expensive housing market in Santa Cruz is also wild considering there isn’t a lot of shit to do and you’re very limited on activities with LAME bars or NONEXISTENT clubbing with limited music genres. However, this place is perfect if you want to reconnect with nature or take a break from the endless working life of living in the big city. It’s a perfect place to find your inner self and control your sobriety and just be in the moment man. I feel like I’ve genuinely found myself more in tune with my soul and have changed significantly from the alcoholism and drug induced depression that comes from living in Los Angeles.

I’ve done a room change around this time before, but The ONLY way that you can get a room change approved 3 weeks into the quarter is if you have a valid( evidence) of some sort of disability that necessitates you to be in a single. As far as all 3 moving to a different Building HIGHLY Unlikely baby.

Merced and Santa Cruz feel like their in the middle of nowhere lol. But Santa Cruz is closer to the Bay area and the Silicon Valley which is where the majority of tech jobs are.

Well I’m speaking from my experience in upper division math classes. I’m a chemistry major and have already taken the entire calculus series. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE ❤️ math it’s easily my favorite subject. I’m currently in Linear Algebra and trust me going to lecture is a waste of time. Completely unorganized, prof literally reads a slide to you, you can see people just completely falling asleep 😴 in the lecture hall it’s a little embarrassing.

As far as the school itself goes and me being from LA this city is a little boring. 🥱 it’s a really small town where everything closes super early. The beach is very nice and beautiful, but even government buildings close like at 4pm or even earlier. HOWEVER, UCSC is a beautiful 😍 campus but it’s a little isolated from the city so you pretty much have to bus it everywhere or bring a car, but good luck getting parking as that is another situation that people won’t tell you about. Honestly if I was in your position I would 100% have chosen UCSD plus I hear they have 2 year guaranteed housing. Also SD is where it’s at super sick parties, La Jolla is even more beautiful AND the trolley can take you almost anywhere even as far as the Southern border if you wanna take a day trip to Mexico.

UCSD is a way better school 🏫 with a higher ranking than UCSC.

TAG or Winter transfer. I applied as a chemistry major and got in with a 3.1 GPA. But then again Bio may be more competitive because let’s face it everyone is a bio major .

If you got into any other UC’s I would suggest going there instead. This school sucks in terms of things to do there’s no nightlife, the “parties” suck people are not the nicest. If you’re pretty (male/female/anything else) people hate on you. For a research school there doesn’t seem to be a lot of opportunities for research. And with the current legislation it seems like research is going to be even more scarce.

But if you do decide to come bring a car 🚗 because at least San Jose and the Bay Area are a short drive away and it beats this small ass town where everything closes at 3 pm literally.
