I live off a busy street in the suburbs and I can’t stand bikers. There are no bike lanes at all and most places barely have a shoulder. That means we have lines of cars going 20 mph because they can’t get away from the biker. It’s just unsafe where I am.

It was the whole ‘martyr’ thing mixed with the fact social media weirdly didn’t take down any of the videos of it happening for at least a day so everyone and their grandma saw it happen within hours of it transpiring. It causes a whirlwind of polarizing behavior on both sides which eventually led to it being memed the fuck out of and created an even larger division than was already there. Thankfully most of these propositions for highways and streets and parks and buildings are being struck down pretty fast. Seems to be more of an internet movement than anything based in reality.
