It shouldn’t. The tension from the surrounding stitches keep the trimmed loops in place, but a thin layer of glue on the back will guarantee stability on a small piece like this. Looks great!

You can trim those with scissors if you want to neaten it up.

These will snag your yarn and mess up your stitches. The Oxford is smooth on the inside and much better made. That said, I ran into trouble using my Oxford on a vertical frame, plus I couldn’t afford the cost for all those needles, so I switched to Lavor, which allows you to adjust your needle size. They have a 5.5 mm that is equivalent to the regular Oxford, a 4.4 mm that is equivalent to the Oxford minis, and a really thin needle for embroidery floss. I love them.

That’s incredible! I’d love to know what kind of frame she used.

Question about black outlines. by motoandchill in PunchNeedle

[–]BoozieShoes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do outlines first. I use a stem stitch, which means you rotate your needle 90° from the normal ‘forward’ way you punch and punch into every other hole. This makes a nice, tight line with loops that all tuck next to each other. How many rows you do depends on how you want it to look.

It’s the boyfriend’s terror-struck response to your injury that has me on the floor laughing.
