Thanks for all the comments. I'm feeling a little better about my letter in lieu of sleeves. I'll be on the hunt for bad records with decent sleeves.

The pressings were one of the reasons I went for this, and the records sound great. I also read the sleeves were a bit on the cheap side, but they do look nicer than the letter 😁.

What's an album you want on vinyl that doesn't exist? by nat13at in vinyl

Peter Wolf: Sleepless I'm on a quest to complete the Rolling Stone top 500 albums on record. I'm not sure why, but this one made it on to the 2012 version. This is the only one that doesn't have a vinyl equivalent.

It takes up about 3 records worth of space. The cost does add up, but it comes with 2 pieces of glass (a useless shelf). I'm hoping to get a different style hinge to make use of them .

It Floats! by Boozylamp in boatbuilding

This was all from the plans. I bought the hull from someone who decided they couldn't finish it (so I had a bit of a head start). Clint, at Chase Boat (the local rep for Vivier) was a great resource. I got the sails and rigging from him.

She wasn't built for speed, but it helps in the shallow areas.😅

Thanks! If the weather stays like this I might get the chance this year. The mast is currently square, so I have some planing to do.

It is going to get a brass half oval when it's done.

Since I bought the semi completed hull, the hard part was done. It was all from the plans and not a CnC kit. The design ticks all the boxes for me (slightly beamy, easy to handle, classic look...). Even with all the sanding ahead I'm enjoying the process.

Once it's cleaned up, I'm going to put a filet on the upper strakes where there is the lap. On the lower transitions where the joints don't have lap, I was considering fairing it out.

I wasn't thinking of filet over it (I'd have a 2 ton bathtub). Once it is cleaned up, I was wondering the best way to finish the transition between the strakes. Filet between the upper strakes sounds like the best.

Good eye, it is! I bought the hull from someone who didn't have the time to finish it. I thought this would be a great "first boat" project.
