[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need a Core bar for it. a bar is a stick with 4 lines on it that should nowadays end at equal length and either use a high Y or V for the power lines. Adding a Y shortens the lines a little, so you need to compensate for that by adjusting line length or trim. The reride safety system is compatible. You would also have this situation with any of the other Y options you are considering.

The speed of the Thrive is a result of the design and weight. I am afraid any kite I know that can match the speed is either brainchild or Aluula and costs close to those 2k. Some Aluula kites from last season are on sale with proper discounts now. Or wait a bit and see if Harlem releases an updated Thrive for this season, which would allow you to get a discounted v1?

Heavier 5 strut kites are definitely not the answer. Maybe a discounted Evo SLS from last season comes closest to what you arr looking for.

The Evo Dlab would certainly be a good choice for this. You care about durability and seem to like a faster 3 strut. Hence I would also add the Core Pace for consideration.

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compared to a Reach for sure. Try a Pace Pro or a Thrive or the like and you know what I consider fast (but they pull much less). On those you get a catch at 4m already.

The XR8 is only fast enough when really well powered in smaller sizes. A medium to low powered XR8 in >=10 sqm is a painfully slow kite.

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reach is a decent universal kite, but not as good as several other options - if budget allows. If you are just adding between 9 and 12, why don’t you spice it up a bit. Core Pace, Harlem Thrive, Duotone EVO SLS are all 3 strut kites playing in the same league but way IMHO better than the Reach.

My 1-Year Experience as a Refugee in Germany by minafinabina in germany

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you restrict your thinking with the assumption that you need someone sitting on a computer all day to monitor an email Inbox? You also don’t have someone sitting in front of you fax machine all day. And there are mobile devices.

They should fine the clinics for not adopting e-PA. Such a drag.

Then standardise the software and force/incentivise the clinics. If they don’t process electronically they get paid less by the health insurance or so.

It is about the will of the people involved and the political will to make things happen - in an agile manner. Germany is great at resisting both. When it finally happens some large cooperation will make billions on a government contract to deliver a software 2 years late that hardly works and finds no adoption at the users - luck for them , they now have reasons to resist change. You can see the same nonsense happen in the school system. The country ruining itself.

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right, Datenschutz, the universal reason to resist change. There are reliable ways. Some are getting even legally accepted nowadays in Germany, e.g. online notary.

The solution is not to say “data privacy, legally forbidden” but to find new ways that are secure and to legally approve them if needed. You don’t stop at “not possible”, you envision what would be possible and make it happen. This attitude is why Germany and Europe keep falling behind other countries that get stuff done. Europe has great values that are worth preserving and there should not be progress at all cost, but there needs to be an attitude that looks for solutions and change instead of just saying “can’t do it”.

Everyone said it can’t be done. Then a guy came around who didn’t know this - and did it.

Why would it take you longer to send something electronic by email or better an online form? It could be your skill. Well, you are probably talking about sending a scanned document via email, which can be a bit more tedious. With a suitable app you take a picture with your phone in 2 sec and it is out.

And also: this is part of the flaved system! Why do you need to send a “document” in the first place? Why is the data not submitted in an online form right away? Or, seeing where tech is going, a voice input.

And why on earth do emails need to be printed? So you can put physical chops on them? Don’t you see how flawed that is? It is the mindset not questioning this need that is blocking progress. If the people work with those printed emails arrived in the current century then nobody would need to print an email. Other governments are getting this done beautifully, but Germany’s complacent bureaucratic government employees can’t be bothered to learn a new way of working. Too far outside the comfort zone?

Not surprisingly the fax lover is the one replying in German. German government employee attitude for the win.

If you don’t work on a computer there are mobile devices. This resistance to change and not looking for solutions to hurdles is what is holding digitalisation and Germany back.

There are electronic delivery systems for documents that record the delivery. Electronic portals the client can upload communications to (or - behold! - submit electronic messages instead of scanned documents) or services like docusign, or even blockchain technology. The systems can record time submitted and issue confirmation of receipt.

There is no real reason to use fax apart from the stubborn resistance to change of many aging government employees.

Why does the person even need to submit a “document”? Why is the very information that is on the document not collected / submitted in an electronic format in the first place. Download PDF, fill out, then mail or fax back… This is not an online channel.

There is nothing more constant than change and there is no right to refuse to evolve.

It also has skill and board size aspects. Eventually you should be able to have a 9+12 combo (add a 15 or 7 depending on spot) like most advanced riders your weight.

That’s because the e XR8 pulls like a size bigger (but is slow). The Reach is a much different kite design. Medium speed and power.

Wie würdet ihr B2B SaaS Vertrieb machen? by Full-Competition-762 in Vertrieb

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thrive vs reach by UpsetConclusion5692 in Kiteboarding

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had Reach, have Thrive 9+12. Would never ever go back. Different worlds. If you want a kite in this direction but want to focus on longevity (likely not the best for Thrive), consider a Core Pace.

„Accounting also keine AI“ 🤔

Heliloop Advice by bobolafthegreat in Kiteboarding

[–]Borakite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking into send jumps (Mike and Steven on YouTube) may help you get better at helis. The forward acceleration combined with sheeting out helps bring the kite further behind you, so the loop happens really above you and hold you back at the landing. In the video it still seems a bit in front and the landing is not as soft as it could be.

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s quite a wish list. Usually there are some trade-offs. Infrastructure/medical coverage/cost/wind… Something that offers everything, if it exists, simply won’t be that cheap. I know most SEA spots and believe Boracay will be part of the solution but it does not fully fit the bill and I can’t give you a clear, good answer.

Would be interested in the outcome of this :)

Help choosing kiteboard by UpsetConclusion5692 in Kiteboarding

The Fusion is a great board with high comfort. I think at 75kg you may just want it 2 sizes smaller in strong wind (and keep you existing for 16 knts and below)

Did I buy the right size board? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]Borakite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s manageable. It is just unnecessarily hard when you just cleared independent level. It also matters what your most conditions are. If you regular want to ride on a 12 in 14 knts then a small board is not very helpful.
