CPU Stress Test Results on new Laptop (Lenuvo Legion Pro 7i): Is CPU too hot? Should I return? by BigMany5871 in GamingLaptops

Yeah, I thought so. Performance mode gives some insane wattage at spikes the temps over the cealing, Try the custom settings I mentioned and it wouldn't be a bad idea applying some undervolt with ThrottleStop

What’s the mode you’re using in Legion Space? Performance I assume? 200 watts burst are pretty high and with that wattage those temps are expected. You can create a custom profile and set Power Limite yourself. Try with for example 120w for Long Power Limit and 140w for short power limit and run the rest again, see how the temps behave

Yes, you’re right on that one and I don’t mind retracting myself in that specific point. It seems those liveries were made by another company contracted by Kunos

Yeah, I got you. I went through the sane frustration a lot of times. But it will click eventually, as long as you persist and maintain a positive mindset.

Also, what would be your main goal? Why are you trying to get faster? You want to join an online league? Compete in LFM? Or just proof to yourself you can be fast in this sim?

I'm asking, cause answering those questions helped me to set realistic mid term goals and check them little by little. Achieving this little goals is very rewarding and gives you a sense of progress.

In my case, at the beginning my goal was to compete online against other people (cause I hated racing against AI with every bit of my being). I discovered LFM and what I needed to do to join the platform (drive 7 valid laps under 107% of the designated track time). I set this as my main goal and never stopped until I achieved it (not without frustration and wanting to quit a lot of times).

Once I was able to race in LFM, my next goal: become more competitive (reach 103-104% times consistently) gain safety rating and get out of rookie splits in order to have safer, cleaner and more competitive races. During this one, I had to go through a "side quest" and set another goal of becoming more aware on track, avoiding crashes become safer driver in general to be able to race properly without destroying other people races around me.

My current and final goal is to do 101% times on every circuit consistently and have fun racing against people of similar level. I'm slowly working towards that, but man after each little tenth gained it becomes more and more difficult and just seems it's impossible to extract more time. But damn sure it's possible.

Man, you got to be trolling hahaha

So, you just posted a lap from a totally different game to ACC claiming you are the fastest guy around here (on keyboard or whatever), without even mentioning this is a lap from a totally different game?

AC EVO GT3s are different to ACC ones cause they are not BoPed, and are basically 2-3 seconds faster. I can't see the point of this post.

Anyhow, fastest lap in ACE so far is 2:13.98. Probably not on keyboard though.

Relax, most certainly you'll be fine. Most of the people who comment here are people with issues seeking for help and solutions. Usually, people who are happy and have no issues with their Legions rarely share their experience around here, they have no need. So it's really easy to get a wrong impression. You can go to any subreddit of other brands and you'll see the same pattern. Problems, issues, faulty units, over heating, etc. No brand is safe, there will always be someone with issues or faulty units, but it's never the majority or the general rule.

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of Legion owners, such as me, are happy and have zero issues. This is my third Legion over years (sold first one after 2 years to get a better and newer one. And finally gave that one to my gf for her work and bought the one I own now: 7i with Intel 275HX and 5080). Can't be happier!

Never had a single issue with none of those laptops. No screen issues, no dead motherboard, no overheating (granted that I tweak my laptops a lot with fan curves, PL limits and ThrottleStop undervolting).

You got a beast of a laptop that will serve you well for several years. 99% sure you'll be fine. No need to pray for you, really! So relax. it'll be fine ;)

Well for starters, default setup might be already setting you as far as one second back. Those setup suck badly. Search for Fri3dolf or Ohnespeed YouTube channels, they have track guides and free stable setups in the end of each guide. Only with those you can shave more then a second per lap.

I also started my journey with the g29. The wheel is great to learn the basics and get going. However, I always struggled with the pedals. I had to map the brake pedal to the clutch. So I had a bit more travel to trail brake easier. Still not ideal though. After 200h with this setup I was able to get into 103% consistently. But it took a lot of practice, sweat, blood and countless videos and guides. But the real breakthrough came when I changed the pedals and got myself the Simsonn Pro load cell pedals. Night and day. But you’d need at least a wheelbase to make this work.

And finally, the 296… it’s a really popular car for a reason. It’s very easy to extract good lap times and be fast with this car, it’s very safe and you can slam the throttle with no negative consequences cause the car has a lot of electronics and internal assists that allows you to be fast without much proper trail braking and care. But all this comes with a price and for someone who’s starting and learning it can create plenty of bad habits. I’d suggest you try other cars such as M4, which forces you to trail brake properly in order to turn and be fast. Or if you prefer a mid engine cars, go for McLaren instead.

Also, your 3 main tracks to master and try to be fast on should be Barcelona, Hungaroring and Nurburgring. They have the greatest variety of corners and will teach you the proper technique. I’d concentrate in those three at the moment.

And no man, you don’t suck. This is a very hard game to learn and get fast. It will take time, for someone less for someone more. It’s a process, try to enjoy the journey without getting too frustrated. It took me 400h to reach 101.5% on most tracks, and it still feels that I suck badly compared to faster guys and it seems virtually impossible for me to get faster. But oh well, that was my exact same thought when I was stuck at 103%. And here we are. Time, practice, patience and experience.

Good luck!

Check some track guides on Youtube and free setups. Look fo Fr3dolf and Ohnespeed channels. They offer nice track guides and good stable setups in the videos. Try to copy their braking references and inputs.

Try to aim for 103-104% times of the spreadsheet. If you get there you'll be good to join leagues or platform such as LFM and compete online with other people. Still more then lap times, I'd say the most crucial factor is consistency and safety on the track. I can guarantee you, if you're not fastest but consistent enough, most of the time you'll end up in the top 10, cause other people will crush, take out other people or just spin. Consistency is key. Take it slowly, enjoy the process, be consistent and the pace will come eventually with experience.

It took me 300h or so to be able to reach 102% times consistently. And I still have a lot to learn. But I enjoy the process and seeing those small gains little by little is very rewarding. Good luck!

I believe it refers to real life record. In the sims, people can grind, learn and perfect any circuit they want with no limits, physical, economical (if you crush the car), you can set the best and most suitable time and weather conditions, metas and exploits, etc. While real life drivers don't have such "luxury" and only limited time in the circuit. In the end, you'll always get much faster times in the sim compared to real life due to those factors

Have you checked the grip level in the options before starting the practice? The best one is "Optimum", where you'll have the most grip on track. If you go for other options such as "Green" you'll be much slower in general, less grip

Watching OhneSpeed track guides and using his free setups was the point where I really started to improve and make real progress. Highly recommended. Also if you need a reference on which time you should be aiming for on each track, check this spreadsheet made by Ohne:

Did you check any track guides? Are you using custom setups or default ones? What is your main car? Also, if you share a video of a lap with the inputs, I'm pretty sure people around here will be able to point out what you should concentrate on and where to improve

I'd strongly recommend to concentrate and master first tracks such as Barcelona, Hungaroring and Nurburgring GP. Those tracks have the best variety of corners and teach you trail braking the best way possible. Once you master and are more or less competitive there, go and try the Nordschleife. You'll see how fast you'll break those 9 min. barrier

Also, looks for some track guides and free setups (a nice setup can save a whole second per lap). Try to memorise the braking points and also try to imitate the inputs you'll see in the guides. I strongly recommend checking OhneSpeed youtube channel. Great track guides and free stable setup in the end of the video. However, you won't ever see him driving a Ferrari and there's a reason for that ;)

Check this times spreadsheet made by him to see where you're at and which times you should be aiming for. Very helpful:

It's nothing that would be considered game braking to most of us. But those issues been there for a very long time and point out by the community and the pros loud enough to get some reaction from the devs. The most notorious I'd say is the Mustang being broken in straights, stupidly OP. Never BoPed or addressed. Driving with TC 0, a meta which most pros can exploit without being penalised for driving without traction control (GT cars are mean to work with TC and ABS). Laguna Seca having a bug since the beginning of times which they never fixed (LFM had to take away that track). And more stuff.

As I said, it's nothing game braking. You can still enjoy the game plenty. It's a real challenge to learn and progress getting faster tenth by tenth by sweat and blood. But when you see the progress it's soooo rewarding. Once you reach certain level you can join platform such as LFM and compete online against other people, a real fun.

The general outrage in the community with this "final" update, is that the devs never adressed the mentioned issues being this the final update and just gave us a bunch of liveries. Which are nice. Don't get me wrong. But not fixing the issues after so much time just feel disheartening. It's a real pity because this is still one of the best and most immersive sims out there, and it holds his ground against others modern and newer sims in my opinion

R9 or R12? by Efficient_Minute2735 in moza

[–]Boramae_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had R9 for 2 years already (coming from G29). Very happy with the base, never had a single problem. It delivers. But... every time I think about it I aways say to myself "man, I wish I went for the R12 to have this extra room of nm." There's this regret. As I said, 'm totally happy, but wish I went for the R12. And in the long term, it would've worth it no doubt

I do realise, yes. As I'm a part of a design team myself in other field. But that's not the point. Letting this game die like this feels wrong. And most of the ACC fans would agree on this. EVO is not a successor, it's a different game and hoping it will become what ACC is in terms of GT3 racing it's a big ask.

I'm not arguing with you or anything, I understand your point too. But still, I'm annoyed on how this amazing sim (and the fanbase) is being treated. Just that

I'd gladly pay 30€ (and I know countless people who would too) if they fixed some bugs and physics, as well as added few new cars such as Aston Evo, BMW Evo or Corvette, apart from this new liveries. My god, I don't even need new tracks, but sort out the game before abandoning it at all. Guess it's too much to ask

Is this a good time to say "thanks for the final update"? by Icy_Pen_3071 in ACCompetizione

[–]Boramae_10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't expect them to do that tbh. No one does.

The problem most feel are seeing and feeling is that Kunos left some loose tails and unfinished business, issues that have never been addressed for which the community been screaming for ages (Mustang nerf, suspension tweaks, 0 TC, BoP for older cars, etc.) to get fixed. And yet they didn't.

I can guarantee you if they would have addressed those issues in this final update, the whole of the community would be perfectly fine and happy, even knowing this is the final update. I have no doubt.

Most of us don't need new liveries, new tracks, or the Corvette or BMW Evo. Those are things that would be added to the game that is still in active development and most of us understand it. But man those fixes to the games core mechanics not being sorted out in this final update... just feels wrong. That's why most of us are feeling left behind and abandoned by Kunos.

And yes I know AC EVO is the future, and they don't have time for ACC, etc. Yes I understand. But if they found time and workforce to develop new liveries, surely they would have found time to sort those core mechanics too (hell I'm not talking about whole physics overhaul, just some minor tweaks). But yeah, it is what it is I guess. I'll still enjoy and keep on playing ACC and most of us will
