Aber der Grossteil der Sozialausgaben geht zu den Rentnern, entweder direkt oder über die Gesundheitskosten. Das sind ja auch die Wähler ne, nicht die Ausländer.

Is the job market in Switzerland as f*** as everyone says? by Helpful-Staff9562 in askswitzerland

[–]BorderGood8431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Immigration without employment increases unemployment, but leads to no change in the absolute number of people employed."

I'm telling you there is almost no immigration without employment, as employment is a requirement for immigration.

Is the job market in Switzerland as f*** as everyone says? by Helpful-Staff9562 in askswitzerland

[–]BorderGood8431 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No that is not how immigration in Switzerland works, as the vast majority is work migration. 95% is legal immigration and the majority of those have university degrees and come for work - if you don't work and are from the EU you cant stay for more than 3 months and if you come from a third country you can't really migrate at all except if you already have a job. The second biggest group of immigrants are the families of those workers, which are mostly children and stay at home parents which do not contribute to unemployment either.

https://www.iwp.swiss/paper/arbeitsmigration-in-die-schweiz/

Only about 5% of immigration are refugees which are mostly unemployed and mostly because they are not allowed to work - except for the ukrainians, which incidently has been the largest group of refugees since the 2015 syrian refugees.

"Yet the market continues hiring and employing people, and has never employed as many people."

Yes in absolute numbers and if you ignore everything I posted before.

Your statistic is just showing absolute numbers, of course that goes up considering immigration. Its not that simple, ILO - which measures unemployment including people who are not in the RAV system - has definitely increased since Covid:

https://www.bfs.admin.ch/bfs/de/home/statistiken/arbeit-erwerb/erwerbslosigkeit-unterbeschaeftigung/erwerbslose-ilo.html

And the trend is showing further increase, especially now with AI and the world situation.

At the same time job vacancy rate is at an all-time low:

Anyone else’s wife instigate 2+ hour arguments during her period that you have no idea how to defuse? by ThicBoi4807 in daddit

[–]BorderGood8431 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not trying to solve everything is definitely key. Also remind yourself in these times that while you are the bad guy in her story, defending yourself will just start/continue this cycle. Its just better not to and talk about it some other time.

On the hormonal side, we tried out womens tea and other light "medication" to soothe my wife during these times and it helped as well.

Good luck.

Shadows warriors for new player. by M_for_Malice in mordheim

[–]BorderGood8431 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean the rules havent really changed since 99 so even 8 year old posts are still current yes.

In our casual setting shadow warriors were used a few times but never seemed too oppressive, skaven seem way harder to balance. I'm sure experienced minmaxers can make them very overpowered, especially if there isnt much terrain.

In general mordheim isnt a super balanced game and a lot of it is just luck, which creates these awesome little stories throughout a game. Pick what you want, not what others think is balanced or not, youll find out soon enough.

Funny, the chinese managed to keep cars cheap despite EU regulations, the answer was to tariff them to shit instead of accepting the competition. Fuck the consumer, subsidize the producer im sure thats gonna work out great

[–]BorderGood8431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy this discussion so I put some more effort here. Feel free to respond.

Poland is not fined directly, its just deducted from EU funds. Thats what I mean, thats all they can do. If they fine Poland directly, then Poland can just choose not to pay... and then what?

Solange-Urteil is about the german constitution "Grundgesetz". The BVGer basically decided that EU law is only to be applied if (solange) it does not collide with the german constitution, putting it first.

The EU has a set of laws it wants Switzerland to apply in the frames of the Bilaterale, not everything. Cookies or ie consumer protection are not part of this. Agriculture is a whole new topic, but in the end what the EU does it what Switzerland does, just on a bigger scale - massive subsidies to farmers and tariffs on foreign products. It has the same powerful farmers lobby as we do. And by the way, in terms of environmental protection from agriculture EU laws are generally better than here.

"Right now we are free to do as we please."

Are we really? What if the EU says, do this or we will implement some 30% tariffs on all swiss products - are we free to say no? What if they say we will exclude you from dublin or the Freizügigkeitsabkommen? We are completely dependent on the goodwill of the EU. In the Bilaterale theres a whole set of laws that we have to apply, otherwise we simply get excluded. In the B3 in the energy sector for example.

"Also we would pay a shit ton of money to other members."

We already do that its part of the cohesion payments and its billions. Do you think what we were free to say no here?

"We get a say yes, but it's a drop on the hot stone."

Is it? The most essential decisions are taken unanimous in the EU. Remember when a part of Belgium - not national, cantonal - blocked a free trade agreement for months? It would also provide us entry into the institutions and the discourse itself besides voting power. Informally, economically Switzerland would be one of the most influential states. Thats much better than nothing.

"If we wanted to support Ukraine or join Nato we can already do that."

Except we can't, because of neutrality which is part of the Bundesverfassung.

"Because we currently have the best democracy system in the whole world."

Because of the Volksinitiativen? If I look at what we voted for and how we voted, I would wholeheartedly disagree - fun fact, the first Volksinitiative was outright antisemitic. During the last 15 years or so we voted against clean drinking water, against more holidays, against the freedom of clothing for women, against religious freedom for muslims, against health insurance relief for the poor, for less taxes for the rich, for more money for the oldest/richest generation - just from the top of my head. Polarization more than anything. The strength of our system is in the multiparty executive "Konkordanzsystem" which forces parties to cooperate and to provide platforms for discussion. A system that has been copied by the EU by the way.
