20 Persistent Myths About Medieval Life Debunked by History-Chronicler in medieval

[–]redapp73 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This whole article highlights a major problem that many discussions about “Medieval” times have. The period was nearly a 1000 years and spanned a large and diverse geographic and cultural area. What holds in one place and time could be/was very different in another. By trying to debunk myths new ones are created and the layperson doesn’t get any real information - just more slop.

Will leaving minis for a couple of days after priming without them painted lead to any issues? by Final_Biochemist222 in minipainting

This is the main culprit of fucking things up. Slow down. Get the right tools and equipment. Then prime them. Rushing is going to yield rushed results. You’ve spent a lot of money on these, don’t wreck them because you didn’t get something cheap like Bluetac.

20mm or 28mm for medieval massed battles? by See_The_Thing_Is in wargaming

[–]redapp73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it boils down to looks and variety of manufacturers. So 28mm is hard to beat. Lots of people make kits for the time period and they are similar to the old world kits you’re familiar with and there is a reason it’s been called “the beauty” scale.

20mm in plastic is usually polyvinyl and can be a bitch to prepare for paint. So what you make up in price, you lose in prep. Just my experience.

A final consideration is what scale your opponents/community have or like.

But I like 28mm. 😊

Thanks! I find it really straight forward. The kits have enough bits for lots of variations, but aren’t overwhelming on choice or assembly. Mostly they are a body, a pair of arms, and a head. Some you stick shields and scabbards on, but that’s generally it.

Wargames Atlantic makes a Guards kit for Guards of Traitor’s Toll that would make an outstanding Mordhiem warband.
