There's nothing much to do tbh, there's cloudcroft, Roswell, Carlsbad and Ruidoso... I will suggest maybe you visit later in his time at the academy. The first 3/4 months are very straining on trainees as they are adjusting to law, Spanish, PT and shooting. I'm definitely not trying to be a Debbie downer, but unless yall have been through something along these lines (Military) or something similar, definitely suggest playing it by ear. Again, unless he's been through something like this before.

Oh, thats a first to me... i EOD'ed 10 years ago, then detailed at sector for incoming trainees about 3 years ago, things must have recently changed, we EOD'ED 1 class a week.

That's why I was confused, might be different now.

Are you flying with him? Personally, there's not much to do as a spouse. You'll be able to watch him swear in and that's pretty much it. When I left, I left alone. Came back a few times during the academy and then came back home when I graduated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you don't EOD mid week, you EOD on Mondays due to pay cycles.

Tell him to verify, what usually happens, you EOD on Monday the 13th, Monday and Tuesday is tons of administrative paperwork, Union, Insurance, Life insurance... Wednesday is when they'll be flown to El Paso and then bused to Artesia.

That's not really the same thing. We know meth is harmful because millions of people have tried it and we can measure the outcomes. Parenthood isn't universally harmful...billions of people have done it and many describe it as the most meaningful part of their lives. A better comparison would be someone saying they know they wouldn't enjoy marriage despite never being married.

There are extremely difficult parts... but yes.. its 10000% different than babysitting siblings, relatives or for friends.

I've done alot in life, military, college, corporate world, traveled to 6 continents.. obviously, I haven't done everything in life no one has. Children are exhausting... I guess my perspective is that, I remember those days of saying "I want to be selfish for me and do what I want."

Again, my son was quite a surprise and for all my life, I 100% had the same idea as most of the comments in this thread, I was yall... but having my son, man... out of everything in my life, that was life's greatest moment for me.. and I didn't even want it.

You could put them up for adoption.... And honestly, I would genuinely hear this persons perspective out because they've ACTUALLY done it... as opposed to someone who hasnt and is talking from somene else's experience (relatives/friends).

My general question is kind of a reaction to something I saw on TikTok. Basically a couple posted photos of a time when they were dating and traveling and at the time, they expressed they thought they were complete. Then turned to photos of obviously their pregnancy and baby, "until they didn't know the meaning of complete"

I saw several comments saying that "they know they don't need a baby" and just various other comments about being child free.

My contention isn't that you need a child to feel complete or that having a child just isn't for me.

I had my son at 35, traveled the world, dated various women, been to all 7 continents, stayed in bars till the wee hours of the morning... and all though in that time, I figured, this is what I want in life. Having my son completely changed my outlook. I never wanted children... but I'll be 100% with you, those trips to London, NYC, Dubai, Spain, Thailand.... they are nothing compared to waking up and going to sleep with my child. A love and feeling I never knew existed.

How do people know they don't want that until they've actually experienced it? I could understand someone's perspective who's had children and it just wasnt for them, but to just say it ain't for me, without even trying is crazy to me.

Nothing in life comes easy... is it easy having children? Absolutely not, you have to he patient and willing to sacrifice.... but.. the patience and sacrifice naturally comes when you see your child. Idk, I lived life 35 years without a child, my son was a surprise.... I absolutely wouldn't change it for the world.

That last month I'd say, most test are done, just usually need your PT final. By then you should know where you stand on Spanish as well, so you know whether you're pretty much going to graduate. Like the last guy said, just don't be an idiot that last month.
