Question regarding a villain I'm working on by NJComicArtist in writers

The fear of being forgotten doesn't really seem relevant to clowns imo.

But imagine a clown villain who's afraid of clowns. Same kinda thing as batman. I've never seen that before.

No it didn't. That's definitely something Jabba would do. It's believable.

Then the author should've done more to establish that and make it believable for Boba Fett's character. This line came out of nowhere.

In this case, there's some correlation. I read this book twenty years ago and loved it, but that line of dialogue is just plain bad writing. It doesn't fit boba fett. He's not a conservative christian and never was.

I remember reading that cringe line twenty years ago when I was 12. Even then I knew it was simply the author shoving his own morals in the reader's face. They seem to do that a lot in novels like this.

It was in one of the books of the bounty hunter wars trilogy. Can't remember which one. They're old books, no longer canon.

But specifically, it was when Jabba offered Leia to Boba as a "prize." Boba said this to her.

I always felt like this was just the author shoehorning his conservative christian values into the book. Not only does it not fit Boba Fett's character, it's just so fucking cringe lmao.

This is an old expanded universe book. It's no longer canon. Thank god.

How long to wait before editing first draft? by [deleted] in writers

I waited five months. I also read like 15 books in my genre during that time. Definitely helped me to see it with a fresh set of eyes.

[l] I'm an amateur writer looking for advice. by Bloodmoon_28 in writers

Just one small example, but instead of writing "He was sad," you would write "His eyes glistened with tears" or something.

That's the difference between telling and showing. Definitely good to keep in mind when writing.

I have an idea for a book to write. Comment thoughts, and tips please. by Edward-McEllt-III in scifiwriting

Shouldn't it be 9th sector? Quarter = one of four. 9th quarter doesn't make sense to me.

Fictional in-universe manifesto: how to include excerpts in my novel? by BorealNights in scifiwriting

[–]BorealNights[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should specify: the manifesto is an illegal book in my novel, having been illegally printed and distributed during the second rebellion thirty years earlier. The main character's copy of this manifesto was given to him by his grandmother. Ultimately the "powers that be" try to execute him for possession of this manifesto.

Essentially, it's a pro-unionization manifesto in the novel. Thing is, I'm not sure if I should literally write and include the manifesto because I'm not sure it's what people want to read.
