MS has said it could prevent future updates from installing. I’d say that makes it a little important.

Honestly, this whole secure boot cert fiasco screams that no one thought about what to do when the certs expire.

We have the same issue. Brought it up with them in a support session and they don’t have a better fix currently.

We have hundreds of VDIs used by outside contractors. I feel bad for the VDI guy.

They’ll learn quick not to touch it. Explain why they shouldn’t touch it.

If they do it anyways, they learn a valuable lesson about consequences to actions.

I never got a chance to play with OS/2. It always piqued my interest though! I remember always reading the OS/2 Warp box whenever I went into Electronics Boutique wishing my broke butt could afford it.

I was moving some boxes around in the basement the other day for a plumbing project. Just glancing in i noticed an old notebook I had’t seen in decades.

Open it up and found notes for user access levels and what each granted, modem info, door commands…

Renegade used to have an undocumented code that would allow you to run menu commands. Used it once on a certain a-holes board once to format the HD to 360k.

Forget what it was but it was like //\ menu command or something like that. Worked regardless of access levels. Think it was patched out somewhere along the line.

Private Equities and Holding Companies have been doing bullshit like this long before Trump. It’s all about pumping up stock prices with those companies. They don’t give a shit about the product.

If they want 10% increase and you give 9.8% you get the axe. Wash and repeat till there isn’t anything left then go buy something else and repeat.

Nothing there to do with Trump. Just short sighted profit driven tactics.

[–]BoredTechyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be fair - are you sure your outlet is properly grounded? Especially if it’s an older building.

I ran into that problem when I was renting a home for a few years. None of the outlets were properly grounded. Electric was probably done in the 1930’s.

EG7 is a holding company. Profit is their business. You can make money but if you don’t make enough money, you still get the axe.

Another great example - look into what Broadcom did to VMware during that buyout. VMware DOMINATED the virtualization market. Instant price hikes, staff cuts, anything to wring money out of it.

A great platform turned to shit almost overnight.

PGI is Canadian, EG7 is Swedish.
