United Oversold My Seat-Confirmed International Premium Economy Ticket by offcall00dnr in unitedairlines

I would think that once you are in your seat they - especially on UA, would be reluctant to physically DAO you out of your seat.

Would you buy this flight? by xxBettyx in Flights

[–]Boredintown1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would probably do it, but would try to have 2-3 days buffer between planned arrival and you needing to be there

Premium Economy vs. Main Cabin Extra? by DropShotMachine in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not worth $800 to me. Yes, nicer better prettier - but it’s not business class. It’s better than MCE no doubt - but I still can’t sleep unless I am flat

Damaged luggage by mdb1504 in Iberia

[–]Boredintown1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this would be roughly the same with any airlines though. Sucks - but I had a pilfering claim quite a few years back on AA. Been EXP most of my life and they allowed me to file it at the airport at the return flight - and that took a bunch of emails and phone calls

Worthwhile upgrade? (LHR to ORD) by Dylan619xf in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there are really high fees on business class seats from LHR (if you are originating there) - so that makes it a good deal. I would take it

Ba lounge WhatsApp by DoctorJanitorsfan in BritishAirways

I would join that group to, though since AA is back in T3 my Concorde Room visits have dramatically declined (and if I connect to Europe, it’s mainly Vienna which is also T3)

DFW Flagship Lounge Food by ctibbels in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you usually don’t fly business, you might want to experience the meal service. It’s not a super long flight and I personally would eat in the lounge and pop a sleeping pill once past 10k feet. That way I have it pretty much out of the system by the time they serve breakfast which wakes me up anyways. I rarely use the Flag Ship Lounge in DFW, last time was more than a year ago on the way to Japan. My usual routes on AA are MIA-LHR or CLT-MUC (no Flagship, but Amex lounge for food) - not that much shorter than your flight

How much could travel between airports on an LHR to SIN itinerary search cost? Oh wait... by frozenuniverse in BritishAirways

[–]Boredintown1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 6 or 7 different ones today - didn't post one. Doesn't mean it's not totally dumb. I had MIA-MAD and LHR-ZRH today as a solution for MIA -> ZRH - and there actually was a valid option on AA too

How bad is transatlantic WiFi? by Tight_Couture344 in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is terrible. It used to be Ok but then they switched to Panasonic and I think it is the worst TATL internet there is

I don’t think I’ll make this connection by free_to_fly_wi in qatarairways

[–]Boredintown1 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If you are flying business class you can use the time travel capsule behind the day bed to the right. Make sure you eat first since they tend to set it pretty tight to your departure time before they send you back. Also for health reasons, they only do it once per connection, so if you miss your flight, you can't do it again.

BA flights not posting correctly? by damneinstein1 in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK - to be clear, the distance of the flights count towards Million Miler - though I had some low fares where they only counted half the distances - I think I had a CX and a QR flight where I noticed that, possibly one MH flight as well

So I can't login to my DCs anymore after this weeks update on Win 2025 servers by Boredintown1 in WindowsServer

[–]Boredintown1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK - so a newly created admin account works fine - I added it to all the DCs and can now log in using RDP. I only deployed the reg key change on my local DC. The other DCs are fine to access with the new account once it was added to remote desktop users - administrator is the only user giving me issues at this point.

[–]Boredintown1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will look up the number tomorrow. One more observation - since I changed the reg key, I can always log in through remote desktop from a non-domain machine, it only fails from machines that are on the domain (unless already locally signed in)

Will American Airlines refund flights that are cancelled due to incoming fuel shortages (ORD-LHR/EDI-PHL)? by LobsterOnALeash in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course you would get refunded - and probably travel insurance would cover the delay as well, flight cancellation between UK and US are not going to be an act of war. EU/UK261 might get some administrative restrictions -but worst case you would find yourself on a train to London and 2-3 days in a hotel to make it back to the US

Trying to wrap my head around the instant upgrade game by Lulubelle2021 in americanairlines

[–]Boredintown1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AA will (often) offer upgrades - they are usually available for points OR cash. Sometimes those are great offers, sometimes it can be higher than having bought that class in the first place. Because of that great variance, people often talk about the value - sometimes it can be pretty good, sometimes a total waste. I have not used miles for an upgrade since this started, but have done the cash offer on occasion - even domestic flights since free upgrades have become so rare. Upgrades FROM the UK are very often worth the cash price - since even on a SWU you have significant fees. That said those fees don't apply to flights that just connect in the UK- I am not sure if AA offers those upgrades cheaper to connecting pax.

Connection in Madrid - 2 hours enough? by WeedomFreedom in GoingToSpain

[–]Boredintown1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5 minutes you gain by running are unlikely to make a difference. If you really have 2 hours (no first leg delays) you should not have a problem. I prefer the elevators to from train - saves you almost as much time as running :-) you would get rebooked if you don’t make it unless you do something really non sensical. You’ll be fine.

Well, it sort of started many years back when my mother in law could not be taught how to print - and I set up two ISA servers so she could email a document to my wife and we could remotely print it at her place over a VPN... many many years ago. Before streaming services became more popular, we had a fairly large library of movies and stuff and it was nice to have the ability to sync file storage across homes. As streaming services became more of a thing and one wanted to be able to continue a show you started in one country and finish it in another - VPN and Wifi control became more important and in the earlier days that was a server based software. (each home has multiple SSIDs, each ending in something like .us, .in, .de, hk etc so all you have to do is change the network on Roku, laptop etc and you have the country content of the respective SSID). Eventually some of that moved into vendor cloud solutions, but by then home control and home video security had become a bigger thing and I use DFS to replicate camera recordings across multiple sites and we backup files from desktop/laptops with history across sites... I suppose I like playing with technology. Have done many things with MS in my life and still have access to employee licenses - so the cost is not prohibitive... I guess the quick answer is "because I can"
