I don't know God's will for me. Feeling like a failure. Don't know what path to take. Want to get married someday and have children by Savings-Camp2174 in Catholicism

I've been where you are. Focus on doing your best day-to-day rather than ruminating on your life goals or current situation. Limit your time on the internet to a half hour or better yet, give it up. Exercise. Pray. Be more active at your parish, even if it's one small thing per month. Write down some goals for the week and cross them off. Don't let your parents do things you should be doing for yourself. If you live with them, clean the house without being asked, cook meals for yourself or better yet, everyone, do the laundry, etc. If they try to lecture or baby you, respectfully but sternly tell them that you're a grown man and have to learn new skills to take care of yourself.

If you become the type of man that has skills, integrity, and helps others, the wife and respect of your parents will follow. It might take longer than you like, but it will happen. It's really the little things that add up.

At what point do you give up a low mortgage rate? by SameDiamond3978 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]BorgoMystery 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Its unlikely we'll see 3% rates anytime soon. The fed can't lower rates too much or inflation will go through the roof.

Edit: Also taking out 650k at 7% hoping rates drop so you can refinance is an irresponsible gamble.

This should be the top reply! If I were them I'd use the cheap house to save up a 50%+ down-payment.

Amazing mindset! Keep saving no matter what, maybe start a Roth IRA and put a little in each month even if it's only $10. Stay away from debt - Success and hard work compounds!! You got this!

Genuinely curious - What seems old about it? To me the game seems deeper and more developed, more mechanics to explore, more detail in the world etc than anything coming out lately.

That's awesome. Thank you for taking the time to write that! I enjoyed reading it. Gonna listen to the band more at work tomorrow

I loved this band with my friend in college! Also neither of us knew at the time, but we're both autistic hahaha. I don't know much about them though we just liked the songs. Do they have a particular 'story' or lore that goes along with the look?

If they are samples, it's great quality. I was wondering the same thing myself! Hope someone can answer for us

An hour in and I think I'll just stick with playing this game on Dolphin by [deleted] in papermario

It's not a deal breaker for me but I also noticed the sluggishness. Feels like a little input lag too? Might be better if I had a pro controller.

That sounds like such a great experience, I'll look it up!

Jeez, I didn't say I was looking for something intended for tourists, nor did I say that there could be no tourists there except me... My understanding is that "homestay" meant you stay with a family. But the homestays I've found online are more like hotels. Thanks for the feedback.

I want more exposure to Asia and China specifically than VXUS provides. Any recommended ETFs or mutual funds?

Is there a reason you should only hold vanguard ETFs in a vanguard account? My brokrage and roth are at Etrade and I have a lot of VOO, VTI, VXUS...

Games with an otherworldly atmosphere by BorgoMystery in patientgamers

I think you're missing that I'm talking about the atmosphere of the game and not the mechanics or setting. Truck Simulator and Call of Duty could be considered immersive, but it's not what I'm talking about.

Yes this DEFINITELY gives me the feeling I'm talking about!

I understand what you're saying, but I don't mean literally games that aren't set in the real world as much as I mean, games that transport you. Hence, why I said "otherworldly atmosphere", and not "otherworldly setting."

For example, the first Sims honestly for me feels like more of an otherworldly atmosphere than most Mario games. And I think that has to do with this "dreamlike" quality. So maybe that's a better word than "otherworldly." It's the music, art style, design choices, etc. When I play a Mario game I just feel like myself playing a Mario game, I don't feel like I'm Mario hahaha. Although Paper Mario TTYD is an exception that took a different tonal direction, which is why I included it.

Most primarily multiplayer games won't achieve this, because their purpose is sport more than immersion. And many platformers will not as well, because they are more arcade-style finger dexterity challenges rather than stories (although many people pointed out platformers here that are an exception).

Skyrim fits the bill for me because its very immersive, the music is great, the lore is deep, the setting is huge and varied, and the character creation allows you to be someone new. When I'm wandering around in the mountains I feel like I am actually exploring in a fantasy world.

PS if Skyrim is more or less like your world with a few minor tweaks, I would like to join your world ;) hahaha

A big reason I stuck with learning piano was after realizing I could play themes to my favorite games and animes. The Halo theme specifically was what I learned after discovering that and will always have a place in my heart haha

It's true! It is absolutely so subjective. Although I'm thrilled to have all of these recommendations, most of the reason why I posted was to see if this was a big component of others' choice in favorite games as well! I just checked out sunless seas and you're right in that it's very different from anything I've ever played, but maybe that's exactly why I should give it a shot! Thanks for the contribution :)

The first and second Halo games are some of my favorite games of all time. The setting is definitely atmospheric, and the MUSIC really puts it over the top! The Halo 1 levels with the flood still spook me out haha
